Sorry for missing this message, but I certainly agree with you that it is annoying to be forced into areas you have no interest. I guess this is why most of my envy of USA comes from the different social and cultural Anthro papers they offer there, but not here.

He was a guest lecturer at Emory University. I was taking the class Diet Demography and Disease so we went to the lecture. He really does over simplify everything. While he can make some interesting claims most are infuriating.

You had him as a lecturer? Does he really portray it as solely being their fault? Or does he address the political and social causes which contributed to it. As you mention it does sound like an over simplification at best.

Ah that is quite good then. Was interested in doing a little more reading on evolutionism. Which is why the other book is "History and Theory in Anthropoloy" by Alan Barnard.

I've never read Carneiro but I have heard good things.
