I would love apple products if they made more mainstream desktops (only option now is the dual processor pro). I also hate the fact that Apple can't seem to get around to make a Direct X like app for aiding developers in producing games. I guess programming software for the new Ipods take all their progamming time now a days....

Mac is sweet, my only beef with it is that there isn't support for a wide selection of games like windows. :D

personally I'd like to use a mac becuase there isn't much to upgrade. The thing is it's bloody expensive for the high end stuff. As a economical point of view I like to go with windows and because I've been using windows for so many years.

apple is way better than windows.the only big edge that windows has is the amount of software available. with apple, you're much more limited, but even then, most programs are more stable. the only other really big downside in leaving windows is cost. PCs are becoming cheaper and cheaper by the minute, but MACs are pretty expensive. of course, you're paying for a much better product...as for security and stability...MS and Windows is widely known to be horrible in both areas. macs are really secure, even if you don't know what you're doing, and no product ever created is as unstable as windows...

Software compatibility is not a small issue dude.....right now mac seems better because not as many things are avaible for vista and microsoft lost that edge that they had....im not sure if ur right on the other stuff

I would recommend Windows. It is more widely used therefore it has better compatibility. Althought I think the Mac is more stable, Windows is still pretty good.

OK...I'm a windows user, but I'm not going to pick a side. Let's face it people, both Windows and Mac OS have their fair share of flaws. There is no such thing as a perfect operating system. Windows crash and so do Macs. Windows get virus and so do Macs. When you upgrade your PC, it is almost as expensive as buying a new PC. When you buy a new Mac, it is almost as expensive as upgrading (Although you don't really upgrade a Mac, but you get the point). So...as you can see...they both are similar in many ways and it pisses me off to see Mac users dissing Windows or Windows users dissing Mac.

Exactly, Apple is hard at work right now to make sure Windows cannot be installed on their x86 systems that are coming out. I doubt gaming will ever find a home in Macs and I also doubt that Macs will ever outsell PCs. Macs are generally used for educational or business purposes and the limitations posed by Macs limits the possible consumer base. Lets just face it, Macs are good at what they do and Windows is good at what it does. Lets leave it at that.

If you like incompatibilties get a mac. But the intel macs have eliminated the incompatibilities cuz now they make you use WINDOWS! hahaha apple is just begging for stocks. Mac are buit with th EXACT! same hardware. So macs and pcs are basically the same Exact computers except they slapped an apple on them and messed with the motherboard to get it to run mac. I ran a hacked version of a mac osx on my pc that i built and it ran just as fast as my dads macs he has at his shop. It was hacked by jagx or something i forget look it up on bittorent if you dont believe me.

there can only be one word to describe the two kinds of computers made today. One would usually buy a mac apple because they need to do WORK. One would usually buy a pc, commonly, because it has the compatibility to play GAMES.

This semester I got into uni (studying computer science), alot of people in my career are using Macs, here are my comments:-About the Mac itself (hardware):I kinda like their design, but they obsess too much with it, specially on laptops, they make them very thin, very unventilated and they try to compensate that with aluminium casing. Still they get VERY VERY hot. What I do like is that the keyboard can get lit up, and it even has light sensors so that it gets on when the environment is dark.-About the OSDespite the lack of some mainstream software, most things can be done on a mac, the OS is very stable (but win XP is stable too) and it has some awesome features like exposé. Another advantage is that one can use parallels and run win xp inside the OS X and resolve the app compatibility. need games? boot into a windows install and play them.-PriceI consider them hell expensive, but in a certain way they are worth it now, since you can have the best of 2 worlds, PC + Mac.Oooh and one last thing, I've yet to find a Mac user who doesnt do this:http://www.thebestpa...cgi?u=macs_cant

The only good thing about windows pc's is that when they do crash, you can go to any walmart and spend another $300 just to get another crappy computer. If you put Macs up against most Windows PCs, price-wise, mac are usually cheaper or at least right around the same price. Also, support for apple is so much better because it is all under one roof. The hardware is built to work with the OS and vice-versa. There are more people that can help you with a Windows problem, but if you want to call someone for maybe at the most 20 mins. you can have the problem solved over the phone or through iChat.(AIM)

Macs are the best. Windows doesn't suck too bad, but Mac is so much more stable. But Windows does have a lot more games and such. And since I'm a programmer, I also found that Mac is harder to program for, because there isn't enough documentation.

I try to be as impartial as I can about this, so here it goes:Apples are more stable than Windows for the average user. It had a well working built-in firewall, and it is used far less than Windows, which causes far less viruses to be made for it. Also, most companies use Windows for servers and the like, now, so that is a large share that viruses are probably intended for. Apples work well, and will last for a long time, maybe not doing much in its later years, but still running. I have a friend who has Mac OSX running on his old 333Mhz iMac, and it runs with no problems that I'm aware of. Loading times are reasonable, everything flows, little video lag, MSN works, so on and so forth. You can also load Windows onto a Mac, which allows you to get the comaptibility, but you'll also get the negatives of the OS.As a result of getting the benefits of a Mac, though, there is an initial investment to pay, in that you are going to shell out a few more dollars for a Mac than you would a PC of equal quality. As stated, though, it will probably last longer as long as you don't plan to do a lot with it. You also are going to get far less compatibility, not just with games, but with general software as well. There is little 3rd party support with Mac, as Apple itself makes most of the stuff that you need for it.Windows based computers are faster for a better price, and are easily upgradeable if you need to, allowing them to do the most up-to-date things while paying close to that of a Mac. You will encounter few problems, as long as you know what to do, and what not to do, with one. If someone makes a program, it's probably for Windows because of their large market share. In addition to this, almost all games are made for Windows, though you can find a few in Mac speciality stores. Even some programs that are made for Mac are ported to PC as well, just as some PC stuff goes to Mac.Unfortunately, if you aren't too sure as to what you are doing, you will pay the price with Windows. You have a higher chance of getting viruses, and may find yourself needing to upgrade every few years to keep up with the advance of games and programs. There are bugs, and you need to update with patches often enough. So, yeah, that's my opinion of them. What really matters in deciding is if you want to play games, and how much you are willing to spend in the process. Hope this helps!
