Mainly gameplay. But if the graphics are THAT bad, then I can't play properly. But at the same time, I won't play a game that looks pretty, but has no substance. A balance is needed, with a slight bias to gameplay, though, for me.

If the graphics are good enough that I can tell what is going on then they're probably good enough for me. I play for the fun, not the spectacle.

Because of my interest in Graphic Design a huge part of my motivation to play games lays with the graphics.Al tough I also find gameplay very important, as long as the game is 'pretty' I am pretty much sold right away :D

Gameplay is more important to me (I could still play Perfect Dark for instance), but good graphics are necessary to make a good game great, more enjoyable, immersive.

gameplay for sure. i dont mind sacrificing a bit of graphic if the gample is really badass. although for most people it'll be a combo of both (modern era)

Gameplay is most important to me. I don't care how good the graphics are, if the gameplay sucks, I'm not playing it!

i see too much focus these days on graphics over gameplay, and even that's a bad comparison. i think i'd go more with the Extra Creditz comparison, of graphics vs aesthetics. if the game keeps a good overall theme, a good story, that sort of stuff, it generally feels pretty fun to play. now granted, everyones got their own likes and dislikes about games. i myself definitely prefer the older cartoony styles of say, ratchet and clank, jak and daxter, stuff like that. but i can still enjoy games like bioshock as well because the graphics AND the aesthetics work together to make a believable world that couldn't look that awesome without its graphical ability. its one of those circumstances where it really depends on the game =/

I prefer gameplay 'cause the story and the great skill needed to finish a game matters to me.

Judging a person does not define who they are.
It defines who you are.

it's not matter how good the graphics may be if the game can't be playable...
for me it's goes like that (in order of priority) - overall atmosphere, gameplay, story and then graphics...

I feel that gameplay is the most important thing in a game. While graphics are an important aspect as well, I feel that their purpose is more to draw the gamer into a game but without great gameplay you won't be able to keep them there for very long.

gameplay over graphics any day, although personally the story is probably the most important to me, i can overlook most glitches or poorly designed levels as long as i care about the characters in the game and want to find out what happens to them next.

Gameplay is the most important. I would point out recent games like the Megaman games that came out with old fashioned graphics, but I don't really know how well they did.

Anyway, you could have the most beautiful graphics in the world, photorealism, all the enemies look awesome... other stuff is going for you... but if the game isn't fun, you aren't going to have anyone play it.

Gameplay definitely... As long as the graphics are clear enough I can tell what's going on. I love roguelikes.

ofc gameplay i can never play a game with epic graphics but bad gameplay, it would be very very boring, and btw if i wanna play a game i would also care about the story and characters so basically if the graphics sucked but i liked the gameplay and the story i would play the game but if the story and gameplay sucked i wouldn't play it even if it had a great graphics.

Sadly, the better graphics get, the harder it is for me to play. I get really dizzy and can't play games like Halo, so I often have to settle for simple graphics like those on the Wii.

Gameplay, because there can be a great game that has bad graphics. Good graphics make a game better, but bad graphics doesn't make a game worse.

Gameplay is the most important thing in a game. I always want that, before the graphics. Good graphics are a bonus, and there are games with poor stories but good graphics. A lot of the older, very good, games have weak graphics. But they make up for it in everything else.

Hands down I prefer gameplay to graphics. After all there are some super realistic looking train / plane simulators out there. Does anyone play those? Not really. Instead people play games that intrigue and excite them. That's all about gameplay. I play a lot of ROMs that are older precisely because I like the quality of the games, over the graphics / challenge of newer games. So in my opinion anyone who says they prefer graphics is crazy. Yeah graphics can really help get you into a game, but without substance, that game is never going to be great.

Gameplay, always. Granted, extraordinarily poor graphics will dissuade me from a game, but poor gameplay will cause me to abandon the game much more quickly.

Graphics and gameplay are like exercise and eating properly; excel in one and slack off in the other and little progress is made. Me personally, I'd take good gameplay over graphics any day because the best graphics in the world won't make up for crappy dialogue, controls, missions etc.
