Both can be very addicting. But I think the since an RPG follows a story after many times of beating a game its starts to lack-luster.But that not the case in Tales of Symphonia the gameplay is alot like Super Smash Bros and it has a great story to boot.

I went off fighting games a long time ago. theres no skill involved and its just button bashing. rpgs have a story involved and are much more interesting.

Mmm. If I had to say which was more addictive? Probably RPGs. I know of no fighting game that doesn't end relatively quickly (given that most came out of arcades, where they need a good, quick turnover rate to get more money), as opposed to RPGs, which I've skipped meals over because I was trying to find that one... last... plot twist...

I personally like the combination of both, ARPG :shifty: You get the fighting part and the good ol' RPG.

I say both are addictive. I do like fighting games though with storylines, like DBZ: The Legacy of Goku II. Which is my favourite game.

while fighting games do serve the instant satisfaction point of mashing buttons to destroy the opponent rpgs serve the longer goal of working at the game and leveling and all that good stuff, then going to the final boss and killing them with one hit :D

In terms of consoles, the joy of fighting games to me comes in their multiplayer features, particularly at parties, something which most console RPGs tend to lack. Fighting games foster stronger ties among friends, but also tend to give a smaller sense of achievement than RPGs, due to the huge worlds covered in RPGs. In terms of pc games, mmoRPGs definitely make up for the lack of multiplayer capabilities, but in that sense, they sacrifice the enjoyment from completing small portions of RPGs for a greater grinding session that usually results in greater satisfaction when high goals are achieved. Some people find this pretty addictive, but I just find it painful. I guess fighting games would be more addictive for me/

RPGs have the ability to suck me in and make me want to do something in it.Fighting games I'll just pick up, beat a couple people, then put it away again.

A lot of fighting games are incorporating a lot of secret material, so it can get pretty addictive trying to collect everything. Take Super Smash Bros Melee for instance. I'll never collect everything in that game.
