It's an "ok" alternative. It's not the best, but you can do some pretty good work with it. It has brushes, filters, etc. And alot of Gimp is in PS, so you could practice with it, also.

i would say fairly well.Ive been using it for a while now and for all intents and purposes it suits me just fine.If you want something that more closely resembles photoshop you can try out gimpshop. supposedly it has been cosmetically modified to be like photoshop but i have never tried it.

Gimp is a decent program, some of its rendering is sorta glitchy, though.Spend enough time on it and you should do pretty well.

It's a pretty good program that's free. My friend uses it, says it's almost as good as PS.

yeah, PS is the easiest to use and IMO has the best features. But dont limit yourself to PS only, try other things as well, ive used Gimp, Corel Painter and a few other programs along with PS. When Doing GFX, i think its best to use many different programs, there isnt 1 perfect program.

I've never used Gimp, but I've never heard anything good said about it, either. Only that it's a subpar substitute that Linux folk are forced to make due with.

See, I can't understand why anyone would pay so much money for a single program. But then again I have a policy of not paying more than $10 on a program. Ever.

I don't like Gimp -- I'd rather Adobe Photoshop, but Gimp is a good program to start out with if you don't want to pay $600 or find a CD Key Crack.

You pay for what you get. I suppose if you does simple basic stuff, Gimp is the main man. Not many people really need all the fancy functions of Photoshop.

I use ps quite a while and it is the best programm i ever had. It's expensive, but with it there are no limits anymore in doing images.Everyone was talking about gimp so i tested it and what can I say.. eehm okay.. :) U can make nice pics too, but I dont like how it looks.Free windows and large tool bars..I thing it's a bit to overload. If u have the possibility to get ps - DO ITThere are a lot more functions and it's clearly-arranged.But u shouldn't buy it for fun. It's to expensive, so u should only buy it if u know u want to do more than sigs. It's a professional programm and u should use it professionally..unless u have the possibility to get it for free :)
