I think half and half would be the most accurate alternative. Sometimes sequels are good, sometimes not.

Generally sequels are only done to games that were already good, if people don't change too much but stick to the good stuff that attracted the masses adding a few gimmicks and bonuses, and enhancing graphics, maybe allowing more choices, you will get a well balanced game that has everything in it, the developer maybe just thought of in the first version. So I would say yes sequels are marvelous. Doing more and more sequels of the same game, novelty breaks down and the chances of ruining the unique charm and simplicity of the original game can spoil this experience, escpecially for those who already played the predecessor. But for other people with other or less expectations it will be still a good game.

Some sequels can be incredibly good, perhaps surpassing the original (I count Golden Sun 2 as one of these), but unfortunately, most sequels never seem to stack up compared to the first. They can be really good when viewed by themselves, but compared to the first one, not as great.

yeah depends on the story. If it has a generic story line that can't match up the the original, then it's just that - a generic game.Edit: for rpgs at least.

I think most of the sequels on the GBA were uninspired. Not necessarily worse than the originals, perhaps even better, but really just rehashes with maybe a couple minor improvements. I'm thinking of Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Castlevania, Megaman Battlenetwork, etc. The sequels were really just more of the same. If you're a fan of the franchise though, that's not necessarily such a bad thing.

it will have to depend on the sequel storyline, but usually it is not as goodmaybe is becoz they use up all their creativity in the first version and run out of idea for the next one.. thats is just wat i think

it depends for me... if we're talking movies, then HELL NO, but if we're talking games, id like to offer golden sun 2 up there - that game is WAY better than the first one, cooler, bigger, more extensive story, although sometimes i feel like its a little too big but whatever :(

Most of the time when they make a sequel they hope that the curiocity will do the trick.I wouldn't trust them to be as good until I played or seen them myself.

More often than not, sequels are the same, but with a continued storyline. Although there are exceptions...

I would say 50/50 csue some sequals should not be made in the first place, while others have totally different story lines. One thing is fr sure, FFX-2 sucks donkey!

well, as we hace observed, the sequels of the series aren't that bad at all times. some are good, too. but some should be criticized to the extremes.

Usually if the sequel is thouhgt out it's better cause they improve things from the first game and make more things to do
