It really depends most of the time. There are sequels that have bad stories or very cliche.

The MMBN series got really worse after 4,simply because of the repetition in gameplay, storyline, etc.Fire emblem SS really sucked compared to the first one.Nevertheless,a sequel can still be better, like golden sun or summon night.

Most sequels are not as good as the original, but there are certain games that are really good.

Half and half. You may play a great original game. Then find out theirs another one.Realize it isn't good. But other times, it's vice-versa. So it all depends.

Actually, I've found that about 90% of video-game sequels are pretty well-done. Generally, they manage to keep the elements that people enjoyed the first time around and expand on them. The sequels are also frequently bigger games, which I like. Kingdom Hearts 2 is a classic example.

I said "most of the time." The only sequels I could really think of were FF sequels, and they're all great. I thought of another few crappy ones, so I said mostly.

the sequels only remain consistent at some times, and i have a hard time comparing it to predecessors, except in terms of graphics.

In my personal opinion, half of the games that have sequels are good, the others leave a lot to be desired.Example of good sequel is Super Robot Taisen:OG and OG2.Bad Sequel: Xenosaga 2.

I say most of the time, if the first game was good, the second one could be even better.

Sequels are nice, when with the right games. The wrong ones suck

The way i figure the sequels shoul be better because they have learned the faults and have improved on them.

Usually, sequels don't tend to be as good as the original. But, if they're continuing the storyline, then in most cases they're pretty good, I'd say as the same standard as the original. In such cases, they don't change things like gameplay or graphics and things like that.

Depends which games your talking about, such as Summon Night, the sequel Summon Night 2 isn't even a sequel! It's the same "Guardian Beast" and all the stuff from number 1 but new plot line, new characters and starts you off. But some of the other game such as Final Fantasy, does improve and capture the essentials of the game better and makes it more fun. So yea.. I'm gonna say Most of the Time.
