I used to have no idea what it was but when I found out, I started using it as the only way to save. Every now and then I save with the actual in-game save just to be safe.

I use save states usually when taking chances at anything. Which is almost everything in a game. Right after a battle, I can't be too sure I'll live the next one, so I save on a state. If in an RPG game, the path forks, I save state, sees which goes to a dead end, then load and go to the other.

Sometimes when I use save states I think to myself, what if I played this on my GBA? It would take months(days in emulators) for me to finish a game...

Always....It's a well known fact that Plan A always has the highest probability of failure, so it always good to have a Plan B.

I use save states more often than in game saving...But I'd like to be sure not to lose any saves so I use both...

I use it in place of conventional in-game saves since it's quicker or after particularly long dialogues/sequences. I tend to make battery saves as well to ward off my first mistake with emulators (saved a state when the game crashed... bye bye 3 hours...)

yes i dothe reasons are:- 1st a played some games with ps1 emulator on a PC and when you need to go somewhere suddenly so the only way how not to loose all your progress is to use a save state (but if you should go to bed, then it is a good reason to wait until you reach a save point so you could stay up a little bit longer (;- 2nd now i play on my Pocket PC again through an emulator and it crashes sometimes, so save states are a good way of preventing heart attacks (;

Playing SRW OG, I need to use save state ... a lot ... especially when I send a single robot to lure the enemy into the main force range. It is very usefully.

Don't use save states unless it's for some kind of decision/ branching of possibilities, and I wanna see the results. And example of this would be Riviera or something, but since that game was positively loaded with em', I didn't use save states to stay true to the game play.
