I use save states, just to save more quickly. Sometimes I save in game, too.

You know I use save states all the time and it is cheating but you know using an emulator you should use all the features avalible to you.

Save states does take the fun out of some games. But, when playing a game like Fire Emblem, you'll be glad to have it so that you don't have to start all over when one of your characters die.

Mainly when leveling in the arena. That can be a doozy (unless you know exactly what you are doing). I still prefer to use in game saves a much as possible

the reson i use save states is that when i click "would you like to save your game?" it said " save failed" ^_^

Ive always used save states, since the ingame saves never work. They seem to work but when I turn the game back on, the save is gone. but it seems I should have used an ingame save in Megaman BN6, because I dont have the icon where it should be after beating Faltzar :D

I like to stick with in-game saves just because save states could be used for cheating.

definitely the save states.. lol for example when im playing a game that is pretty random.. like for example, theres 1 step to make the pokemon come out of the grass, and theres a very tiny chance of getting a pokemon like pikachu in the viridian forest in fire red, you save the slate, then move. if comes out a normal pokemon like caterpie, you press F1, and u rinse and repeat. :D

I use save states all the time :wtf:it just cost me my three hours on Final Fantasy VI after I saved state at a particularly untimely moment :D maybe because I should have at least bothered to use the in-game saving here and there. :D

Well, there's no way that i can save right in the middle of combat. That's like telling people in a war to hold one for a quick sec, lol.IGS would be good if you wanted to start fresh over or right before ir really occurs.

i use save states when i can't do in game saving, but otherwise i stick with in-game saving. i dunno - it just seems more true to the actual game.

How about a "both" option?I use Save States for a quick fix, and the concrete in-game save in case i make a boo-boo with the state.

Use a combonation of both. In game saving for when you're going to bed or outside or something. And save states right before a boss fight to skip needless dialogue.

I use in game saves most of the time (e.g. Pokemon games) because you can save anywhere except battles etc. but nvmBut for other games (e.g. Super Mario) I use save states beacuse you can't save the game there! Or when I'm trying to jump across a BIG gap and fail so many times. But I use save states in Pokemon too because resetting is a waste of time when I'm trying to catch lengendary birds etc.But once when I used in-game saves and also had some save states lingering around. So I went to load some previous save states. Then my in-game save was gone! Waah

Both are good but it's obvious that save states are better fro skipping crap like dialogue and whatnot. I've beaten some rpgs without using a single In game save, lol!

I prefer save state better coz there is a risk of losing current saved file for in game save. However, I often use ingame save for some game e.g pokemon. You wont have those berries grow unless you use the in game save.

on n64: in game.On gba/snes/nes/any other old 2D console: save states. The older consoles load save states faster and more efectivly, but the N64 is sluggish.

I use both of them,Save State is very very important if you are playing games like Fire Emblem or FFTA,and in Game Saving for Pokemon games.
