I more or less agree, it was getting quite disturbing and I doubt mothers want their children seeing some kid get his eyes ripped out then replaced with a new fake set of eyes.

Cow & Chicken was more violent than Invader Zim and it lasted for 3 seasons. (Chicken got flipped inside-out in an episode :)) I don't think it was cancelled because of its violence. It was more likely to be lack of interest (though I loved that show! XD )

It was dropped because Nick decided they didn't want it anymore. Simple as that. It wasn't due to violence (look at Rocko's Modern Life or Ren & Stimpy). The biggest problem though was that Invader Zim was marketed completely wrong. It should have never been aimed for children due to the fact that the comedy was more satyrical and required a more developed mind to watch it. By the time the proper audience began to find Invader Zim, it was already pretty much over. Only us long running and all loving Jhonen Vasquez and Roman Dirge peoplies probably got into Zim at the ground floor. There were rumors that Invader Zim was going to MTV, but that apparantly fell through. Either way, it was a great series.. It had a great run and like many excellent series, it just didn't last as long as it should have.

I don't rate the games by their awesome media, I rate them by their gameplay and fun.

That show was good while it lasted. Alas, many underrated shows never make it far. I'm trying to get ahold of the DVDs, but to no avail. It was definitely a great show.

Iniguity, DVD is available from DVDsoon.com, and they do international shipping. If you can affor it, get the house box set (it comes with more zim, in the form of just audio tracks for unmade episodes, and a gir figure)This series suffered the same death as reboot, in so far as the audience became limited to a small geek following rather than the mass appeal kid audience. The phrase too clever for it's own good springs to mind. That, and the fact Nickelodeon discovered they could print their own money with that bloody sponge prat, so why bother paying an inteligent creative team?*sigh*]V[

Indeed, everyone has basically hit the nail on the head here. Nickelodeon did a poor job handling the show from the beginning and everything was basically doomed from that point. They had the show in the position where it couldn't find it's niche, they didn't target the people who would have watched and kept moving it around so much you could hardly keep track of it anyways. But if you can get the DVDs it is definately well worth it o.O

It was and is very disturbing to children. I wouldn't let my 5-year old niece watch it.

I think that mainly explains why it was cancelled. I liked the show though, it was very... "eccentric".

Probably too much violence, otherwise it was a good show nonetheless

it probably offended someone about something in a time where that envelope hadn't been pushed already 5 or 8 times before. Compared to some show's now it seems understandably a kids show.

I think its because it was a little to "out there" for kids to be watching. I mean they still have it on the air. Its on the nicktoons channel for those who have digital cable. Makes me sad as to how easily offended American people can get.......

It probably was just too disturbing for most parents to want their kids to watch.

Id say that it was a wrong target type thing. I really cant see little kids geting in normaly exept some of the smarter ones it should have been on adult swim or MTV or something like that

It was because Vasquez wanted to start a writer's union, and Nick wouldn't allow it, so he walked out. And by the way, Ren and Stimpy was much worse than Zim and it aired on Nick for quite a while.
