My problem with that, Sabrekiller, is not that I desperately want there to be solid truth for power and control or a false sense of security. I would prefer what you are saying to be true because then I would not be accountable to a higher power for my actions, but there's just one big problem, which is logic. You just made statements that you believe to be true and that I do not believe to be true. You said "there is no truth... there is only the Jedi." If you want to believe that, you can. That's your free will at work. But to say "there is no truth" and to absolutely believe that that statement is true is just contradicting yourself. If there is no truth, then there is no communication, because we communicate by making statements that we believe to be true. If I say "There is truth and Christ is the truth," I don't mean that there is no truth and anything is the truth; I mean what I say. So if you say "there is only the Jedi," I can respect that, but believe differently. I can believe that I am right and that you are wrong without being intolerant of your belief. But if you believe it is absolutely true that nobody should ever declare that what they say is true and what contradicts that is false, then you become intolerant. Christianity is very tolerant, because it offers a choice. Many "religions" or "faiths" out there require strict adherence to codes of conduct to be a part of their religion, and if you are not a part of their religion, they want to kill you. Many "religions" or "faiths" offer absolute freedom to do whatever your body or feelings want. But only one faith says that there is an absolute standard and nobody lives up to it, so you can live however you want to, but there are consequences. If you want to be perfect, God helps you change but doesn't require anything of you but that desire for Him. If you don't want to be perfect, you won't and you can live until you die and stay separate from Him forever. The real question is not "Does truth exist?" because if we want to declare whether or not truth exists, we must make a statement against truth that we believe is true. The truth is that truth does exist, because "truth exists" is the only sense-making option. The question, then, is "What is the truth?" If you live by whatever "truth" you want to exist, then that is your decision, but it doesn't make you right any more than living according to the belief that 1+1=3 will benefit your financial decisions. All choices are free, but all choices have consequences. Saying "There is no truth" makes as much sense as saying "This statement is not true."As for BenYoshiro, religion or faith comes into everything when you realize that there's no point asking why we die or trying to preserve physical existence in the first place, because it doesn't matter how long we live; we will still be imperect and our physical body will cease to function one day. We will have no purpose until we concede that only spiritual life is eternal and meaningful/purposeful. People of faith post in many forums about many issues, because meaning and purpose come down to what you believe about spiritual life. If you don't want God or spiritual life, you won't have it and you will be separate from God and spiritual life for eternity. What annoys me is when people say that they don't believe in God or in any kind of spiritual realm, but that if God is real, it is unfair of Him to not take us all to heaven. Actually, that's very fair, because in rejecting God's clear presence in all of creation, you express that you don't want Him."He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Why do we die? Because we don't understand that physical death is not the end. Why do we die? Because we want life to be physical and stay physical. Why do we die? Because we don't want to live in Christ. There is no emotion... There is peace. There is no ignorance... There is knowledge. There is no passion... There is serenity. There is no chaos... There is harmony. There is no death... There is the Force. <= readmy own= There is no truth... There is only the Jedi :starwars:

Nothing lasts forever unless it's eternal. Nothing PHYSICAL is eternal.Only the spiritual is eternal, so your soul will last forever. We die because nothing last forever.
