I think we die because our bodies' cells grow too old and they die. I think that there is a set time in everybody's life where your body stops functioning.

if we didn't die, then the world would be vastly overpopulated and all the resources would be dried up and the human race would cease to exist.

I think we die because our bodies can no longer function as we need them to because of aging and then we die.

We die because our bodies are too screwed up to fertilize other people any more, so we become the earth's fertilizer

I guess because of balance. If we can come, then we can go. Get it?There is balance in everything, IMHO.

because evolutionarily, dying is the best way to clear the weak and make way for the newer, more adapted generationsbut in less grand a scale, we age and die because of a little something called telomeres at the ends of our chromosomes everytime our cells replicate.

Our telomerase stopped working after sometime and telomeres are short and thus the number of times your cell can divided reduce..this goes on until you die.

people say that we are at the top of the food chain and all the nutrients that we consume have to be recycled therefore we die and the nutrients go back to the ground. and also it is a major role in the cycle of life. if we do not die, when we eat a piece of steak and then the cells in it is still living, it will grow bigger in our stomach and thus making us feel as if we want to puke.

So the Earth doesn't become overpopulated. Also, if it does come to nuclear war, we won't survive the horrible mutations and such.

Maybe it's an allegory of some kind... like, since we've done bad things, we are somehow unworthy of immortality as a race, and sickness and death are reflections of that. What do you think?

I think we die because over time, our life slowly starts to wear down.

We acutally die because we breath... It's sad but the air that is keeping us alive is also killing us by aging our cells. XD

A little strange some might say... im not religious but its a orginal point to considerWe die to show humanitys weakness. If there was a ruler in place (imagery of god), it could be a point that god wants to "put us in line" to show us that we cannot find the cure for death. Which links in with cosmological arguements, time theory etc. Meh long shot... but its orginal XD

the scientific reply to ur question: every time when our somatic body cells divide, the telomeres of our chromosomes shorten bit by bit. After a looong period of time the chormosomes has shortened too much and thus some of the proteins stop working. Since proteins are the units that keeps the body in its normal condition, our body deterioates and ultimately, dies.
