I think that it is rediculous how many pokemon there are now. I was happy with, and had a hard enough time getting all 151 as a kid. The new designs of the pokemon are far less appealing than the original, and some are just plain uninspiring. This franchise has thrived for more than a decade, and as long has people keep buying the games there will always be more pokemon.

Thats true men i have the pokemon diamond edition and there sooo many pokemons with retarded names and models.I think that it is rediculous how many pokemon there are now. Hopefully, Pokemon has 1 more generation under there belt, now with almost 500 of them, so we won't be looking at very many new RPG handheld versions anymore. Yeah, I got Pearl, and most of the Pokes look robotic or something.

I remember when i was a kid i used to love playing pokemon red on my gameboy! me and my friend were competing against each other to see who knew the most pokemon. with only 151 of them, it was possible. now there's just so many of them. no more originality, no more new concept or anything. just a bunch of pokemon that just look like mutant animal. This series is overexploited, and there should not be anymore of them. the old one are the best anyway.

Honestly, Nintendo's decision to add more to the roster is justified. And no, not just because they're looking to make more money. Think about it. Would anyone want to play the games if it were still just the original 151? Probably not. I admit, 493 is a little much. But, it gives people like me (I've been a fan of the series since its introduction in America) a nice challenge. It's quite an achievement to get all 493 of those critters, legitimately. (Silly glitch abusers.) And, they still keep some of the originals in the newer lists. Sure, they're not always the best of the originals, but they're still there, and they will always be. Another reason I'm sure they add to the list is to appeal to the younger kids and bring in a new generation of fans. I would hope that some of those newer fans have the curiosity to find out the game's origins and really see the history of Pokemon. It's been a long way through, and I don't see the games stopping any time soon.

I don't mind them adding pokemons. With wifi it's WAY easier to get them all. If they do make a fifth gen, let's just hope it won't be as big as the third gen (god 135 new pokemons, while awesome for the most part was a bit too big) I'm happy with the 2 last gens so far because they made most of my favourite pokemon, Namely Tropius, Wailord, The Ralts series, Blaziken, The Treecko Series, The Turtwig/Piplup Series,Kricketune ,Porygon-Z and Roserade (Roserade being my all-times favourite) The only favourite I have and does not beolng in the last 2 gens are Ursaring, Skamory, Charmeleon, Wartortle, Magneton, Porygon2 and Ariados.

i completely agree when it was in gold/silver and red/blue the pokemon were actually original and it wa sexciting now its hey look this pokemon looks like a pig with a jewel and a spring

I say more pokemon is good, BUT I'm pissed of at how there are so many legendaries with Diamond and Pearl... I also dislike the designs of a lot of new pokemon, and believe the folks at Game Freak are getting lazy, I mean look how damn ugly some of them are!

Well you just imagine starting a game on an MCRPG, finding about 40 creatures and then suddenly having finished the game, then imagine that those creatures are all but 2 of them ones you've seen before and known all about. Any questions?

I agree. I loved pokemon when there were only 150, but then they added more and I lost interest. It just got so much more complicated.

Probably to keep little kiddies' attention.Even though Zubat has been in every game (It's true! Look it up!) - probably because they couldn't think of a replacement, if they kept on using the same things over and over, the younger (who are more likely to buy the games, lets be honest) are going to get sick of it all.

Mm...I think they shouldnt have made Pokemon Pearl/Diamond, that just went over the line with the amount of Pokemon. Heh, but I'm still hooked on the games so who gives.

Personally, I liked the first 250 pokemon (the one that ended with Celebi). I played Ruby and Sapphire and thought it was ok. Now that Diamond and Pearl came out, I'm not into it as I used to be.
