I was eager to play Pokemon Gold at a time when there were no French version. So I ended up to download the US rom and emulated it on my PC.
How did you get into emulation?

It happened during my Snes-playing era. When PSX comes into my country's market, no shops sell any snes' games anymore, and I cant buy PSX that time since I haven't got the money, feelin' a little lonely with no love to my snes, I just browsing internet found out a abt emulation and they are talking abt snes and genesis so I give it a try and I'm still using it right now to get the chance to play great games in snes that I haven't got the chance to play before 
.Right now I'm into Arcade emu tho' since there's a lot old school games that's need to be played .

I knowled emulation in the internet and got my first emulator,i remember was Project 64 1.6 after i don't stop more.

someone at the computer room at school was playing a rom of Super Mario 1, so my friend and I were going crazy and being like woah how did you get that! my first emulator was Gens, and the rom for it was Sonic the Hedgehog 1. Or 2. I forgot, but now I don't need either b/c I got Sonic Mega Hits Collection Plus for my PS2

my first emu was neorage9X. it was on some pirated disk which had. the disk was so i could play arcade games on my DC. I also got deeper into emulation when bleem first came out.

I wanted a way to play Pokemon Ruby, but my parents hadn't gotten me a GBA, so I just Googled it until eventually I found it.

my story is a little bit more interesting =)once upon a time . . .no, i'll tell you in a more "normal" way :)i had had a playstation and i lend a n64 from a friend of minei enjoyed all the cool and in games like zelda oot, mario, mario kart, f-zerothen i had to give it back and i was so sad 
really! then i liked to play zelda agein, but there was no money for an own n64 so i asked around and another friend told me, that there are roms aroundat this time they didn't work that good, so i sold myy ps1 and bought a n64 with zeldatoday i complete my collection of good n64 games over ebay ;)i enjoy nintendo sooo much!!that's how i came to emulation

They way i got into it was when i went to my big brothers house i saw him have some cool snes games so i decided hey, i want some too so i searched until i find a snes emulator and some roms.

'Cause I always wanted a SNES, but my parents could not buy me one, I could have lived with (or without) this if I didn't know two portentous games called "Crono Trigger" and "Final Fantasy III" then went mad trying to get any way to play these games, and just so happened that some friend showed me one program called ZSNES, and this is how I get involved into this emulation matter.

I was bored at college one day and a friend of mine was playing the original Mario Bros so I asked him how he had gotten the game and the rest is history.

my bro introduced snes emulation for me. At first, i didn't know that it was snes until i actually played it. And it was the best experience i ever had with video gaming.

I was looking for a copy of Super Mario World one day when I got my first job, and couldn't find it anywhere. Well, while doing some searching a rom site popped up and as a last resort I went with it.

some large kid i knew in high school introduced me to snes emulation. later on i got a nes emulator with final fantasy one. that's when i went crazy with it. i think i have had at one time every emulator that was ever created.oh man bless the guy who invented these things.

Accident. My first game was chrono trigger After that i became a chrono fan. But chrono cross wasnt very fun for me

i think i first learned about it because of mame. maybe i was looking for computer games for my mac (much smaller selection) and mame was listed. then i realized mame was listed in a section called emulation then i saw the other emulators. but mame was pretty well known and i think they made an effort at distributing it. it seems a little less illegal because the gaming it offers is not really consumer games and unless you had a fast computer it was a lot of like pacman type games.

started going to sites with PSP apps because i found out 1.5 is the way to go then found out about emulation and then roms and then it all started from there. But i actually unconciouslly played roms and emulators before using MAME but i didn't know they were 'roms' and emulators' i was too young

I was obsessed with the n64 Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, so I looked on the internet, and BAM! there it was..and I especially had fun using it's cheats option after I finished the game for the like 200'th time
