I play with it off, reasons: #1) It wastes batteries, #2) I could be listening to music off of my MP3 player, and #3) It gets very repetitive after a very short amount of time.

If the sound is turned off, I felt that half of the game is sort of gone...even worse if you play game like TOP which I think if it is similar to SNES verision, you can never solve one of their puzzle...

i have it off cause i mostly play on the emulator and i use the speed button to get through boring bits

off. for one, it saves battery life and second the sound isn't important if it dosen't have any dialogs and no gba games have sound dialogs

Really depends on the game. Annoying music = off. Good music + nice sound effects = On

Most of the time, it's always off with better music to listen to, mainly anime instrumental or anime theme songs.

i usually leave it on just to get the full experience that the developers intended for the consumer to have, whether the music is good or not..

before gba, i always had the sound off (the music sounded tinny to me and just drove me up a wall). since I got a GBA, i have enjoyed the sound and music immensely.
