I grew up a Nintendo fan, and never had any exposure with the PS1 until shortly after its 'death'. The only reason I even got it at that time was for Final Fantasy Tactics. With that said, I'd say I like the N64 better, as it seems more 'home-like', and features many familiar faces in its games. Mario, DK, Kirby, all are friendly faces from my childhood that made playing the games more amusing. Of course, the horrible attempts at 3D for the most part on both systems was something I could do less of. In that sense, I would have preferred the PS1's anime style games.

I like the Playstation over the Nintendo 64. It seems to me that the Nintendo 64 was targeted to a younger audience and I prefer the more mature games on the playstation

I prefer 64. All the classics on it... And, call me repetitive, but they weren't graphic-addicted, even that early. Instead, the game play is better. XD

Mmm...I always like N64 more. Sure, Playstation graphics are better, but N64 has Ocarina of Time! That's all that matters for me! ;D

Ok On sheer hardware specs and capability As per Wikipedia...."The Nintendo 64's central processing unit (CPU) is a MIPS R4300i-based NEC VR4300.[16] The CPU has been clocked at 93.75 MHz and connects to the rest of the system through a 32-bit data bus. The memory itself consists of 4 MiB of RAMBUS RDRAM (expandable to 8 MiB) with a 9-bit data bus at 500 MHz providing the system with 562.5 MB/s peak bandwidth." Vs the PSX which had, "MIPS R3000A at 33 MHz. CPU. Also, is a 32-bit video game console. It's memory was based on memory card media and used CDs unlike the N64 which used cartridges and ram."So, given the hardware alone the N64 looks as if it should have blown the Playstation away. However, on the game selection available for each system, the quality of the games put out for each system, and the console controllers Playstation blew the N64 clear out of the water! 1) The N64 had no RPGs save a couple decent action adventures like Zelda and Castlevania and Quest 64. While Playstation had a plethora of games in that department inclusive of Final Fantasy. 2) The fighters for the PSX and again the sheer selection of them made N64 look substandard. Save for I personally liked the N64 version of MK Trilogy better. 3) The PSX had the survival horror market darn near monopolized. 4) The PSX had a controller that made that Klingon looking thing of the N64's look lame. Plus, on the sheer fact that the analog stick was more comfortable on the PSX and unlike the 64 OPTIONAL! Like it should be.Overall, given all that in consideration, my call is Playstation OWNED the N64. The comparison is lopsided and unfair other than they both were on the market at about the same time.

They are both fantastic in their own ways. I would enjoy a first-person shooter or the such much more on a PlayStation. However, N64 is good because of the RPG-style games, series...es and because of Pokemon. Of course. So overall, I prefer N64

n64. some people fail to realize it's genius. i don't like optical disks because they break to easily, and the loading time fails compared to game paks. the n64 is a much more highly powered machine too. the graphics dont really matter, they were great at the time.
