They just have different colours to the normal form, and they are extremely hard to find. You can tell if they are shiny or not by looking at the screen when the battle starts, and if the Pokemon sparkles then it is shiny. for instance, normal Dittos are pink, but shiny ones are blue. Normal Weavile is blueish but shiny ones are pink/purple.

i caught a black raquayza in emerald. using the master ball, i could just keep reseting until it was shiny

Man, I suck! I got a shiny Wooper, Caterpie (which evolved into Shiny!Metapod, and Shiny!Butterfree), as well as a Shiny!Nidoran which eventually evolved to Shiny!Nidoking. Sadly for me, I lost my Pokemon Gold, and my Pokemon Crystal doesn't work. I haven't gotten any shinies on Ruby, or FireRed, though.

i caught a shiny nidoran (male) in the safari zone once, it's the same color as a nidoran (female)

Ouch. Yet the odds of a shiny pokemon are 1/8192 and how many battles you have been in has no effect on that...(Tell that to my Silver version, after the Red Gyarados and Pryce, I ran into so many freakin' shiny pokemon in the ice cave that I filled up 4 boxes with shiny Piloswine, Swinub, and Zubat.)

I personally have never found a shiny, I have traded for a legit tentacruel from one of my friends and I have seen a shiny ludicolo, Starapter, eevee, and a sandslash.
