Okay, i was playing to the legend of legaia in my PSone and suddenly the controller stop working. I try to make it work with another game but the result was the same. Then i putted out the memory card(1) in slot 1 and the controller begins to work normally. Then i changed slots( memory card (1)slot 1 passed to memory card (2)slot2 and viceverse) and the controller didn't worked when i was putting the memory card (1) in the slot 2 but yes when i putted the memory card(2) in slot 1I don't know why and doesn't have any logic so maybe one of you could explain (or imagine ) what is the real problem

Something similar happens to me all the time: the controller stops working or the analog lights out.I think it's because of the memory card slot. When I remove the memory card, it works well again. In your case, I think it's the memory card, 'cause it must not be working well, and since the slot and the controller output is so close, there must be some kind of malfunction. But the memory card actually saves the games, or keep erasing them?

I think that you had some errors with the controller. Better find someone who can help you.

well. appart that is a fake controller (it's not from the original sony) i don't see any other wrong thing... it's like when i put the memory card (2) then it's like a shutting down of the controllers parts and the memory cards, and it's doesn't matter what i do It's probably that the memory card got something like data corrupt or something? because one time i remember trying to save diablo and the game showed that I have a -115 blocks to save the game... impossible to save the gameIt's not exactly that erase my games (sometimes, yes the memory cards erased all my games, but it's doesn't happens anymore, now it doesn't work) it's like that the playstation doesn't recognize the memory card format (i don't know if it's possible but it's happen sometimes with some CDs) For the time being i wasn't able to make the memory card work, but can be that some dust entered to the inside of the memory card or the memory card slot so it's make this result when trying to put the memory card.

By Fake controller do you mean one that another company puts out to make improvemnets, or did you somehow mutilate something completly different to work with your PS1.

Either way, the part can be easily replaced, as the memcard/controller section is removable. Just find yourself a PS1 that's the same model you presently have (the best way is to get one that doesn't read discs...it's cheap parts for you), then just open up the system with a screwdriver and change the part.

This may sound silly but take the controller apart and clean all the buttons and boards with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol and use a clean q-tip to clean the memory card contacts on the card and in the system. I've had a similar problem and just cleaned everything and that fixed it

By a fake controller i try to mean that it's was not originally made by sony but aside from that it's work with every game that I own.For what i know in some game of EA like madden or fifa for playstation 2 can't be played with third party controls, don't think that it's the same case for the PS one

You should try changing the memory card...it could be hit by a virus or something...i had the same problem and after i changed my memory card....it all turned back to normal so you should try to do the same too...

For me it's kinda weird. As long as the controller isn't touching the floor, it will work. VERY strange.

Yeah, I've had memory card/ controllor combo problems before. I think its because they somehow are connected, port ones, and port twos

I currently use a saitek controller and although it was cheap some companies can actually produce a solid construction... however nothing is better than the original hence the price tag...
