I think it depends on the game you are playing. Mario Cart on N64 looked bether than the DS version if you ask me.

i totally agree.the n64 is better than the ds hands down.n64 mario was way better than the ds version.i think instead of having yoshi etc they should have just kept it real and had a sr8 port or have luigi or something at least.so close but no cigar.

I dont think so personally i have always thought n64 produced superior graphics

n00bly said:N64 has superior hardware numbers but less software technologywhereas: DS has suprior software technology therefore: N64 = DS in some aspects

the ds is so much better than n64, think about it. the ds is so more advanced and the n64 was made ages ago.How can old gaming beat new gaming?

not even close imo. hard to get smooth rounded gfx like the n64 had on such a tiny screen space. having said that, more n64 ports please...

The graphics are darn near close to the N64 and in some ways, better. Perhaps the polygons aren't quite as clean on the DS as they are on the 64, but the backgrounds and overall graphics engine on the DS seems better than the N64 in my opinion.

They're pretty close, but the DS has amazingly hot graphics for being a handheld.

shld beAlthough the secondary port on the Nintendo DS does accept and support Game Boy Advance cartridges (but not Game Boy or Game Boy Color cartridges), Nintendo has emphasized that its main intention for its inclusion was to allow a wide variety of accessories to be released for the system, the Game Boy Advance compatibility titles being a logical extension.Nintendo announced at E3 2005 that it would launch "Headset Accessories" for VoIP enabled games. (This will plug into the VoIP plug next to the Ear Phone jack, not the Game Boy Advance slot.)

When comparing MarioKart, the DS looks better, but its not much of a difference, and some DS developers don't put as much effort into the graphics, so it looks worse.

for everyone saying that mario kart 64 looks better than mario kart ds, note that 64 uses sprites for all of the characters as well as many of the objects on screen, whereas ds uses polygons for all of the characters. devs are much better at making 3d models now, so it could be just using fewer polygons to get more things on screen, but i think the moo moo farm, snowland, choco mountain, and banshee boardwalk were all faithfully rendered in the ds version, don't you?

The graphics of 3-d games like the need for speed games are N64 era graphics. Both of their graphics are slightly different. The N64 however has the fastest cpu than the DS. Check how the DS and the N64 processors clocked on wikipedia. When playing 3-D games though, I noticed how fast the frame rate was going as I played Mario 64 DS and Need for speed underground compared to the N64.
