Really all of those attract me equally. EXCEPT..Graphics and storyline, battle system and era in time are kind of important to me.I don't really like future RPG's like the star wars: KOTOR. More like FF :PSide quests and characters aren't as important to me.

I agree with the last poster. With games bordering on the $60 mark now (and back then, too, if you played Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, or Earthbound on SNES), role playing games seem to take the time to give you a much more thorough story. Though I love games like God of War, it seems that you have more story in RPGs. God of War is more like "The gods pissed me off, so 75% of the story is me ripping the Forgive me, please. I have a small vocabulary. =( out of people." So to me, RPGs seem to justify their hefty price tag.

Storyline. That's pretty much the only reason I play RPG's now. I've played so many RPG's that they are just too damn boring unless they have a GREAT storyline.

I would have to say a combination of the elements would attract me to an RPG, something with a good battle system, a good soundtrack, and some sidequest stuff, and the storyline usually is what brings me to an RPG game.

Story has always been the real big draw for me in getting me into a RPG. If there isn't a good story, I simply can't get interested in it.

The main thing that attracts me is the battle system, if it's new, I can learn it, if it's something I've battled with before, it's called training, but everything on the list also matters, but not as much as the Battle system, except graphics, those don't bother me at all, as long as the rest of the game is great.

Well, in all honesty, Gameplay is a minor factor in comparison to story, which is why i watch movies more >.<

An RPG needs to have a killer storyline i mean who wants to play a game with no real plot absolute mayhem and no structure? Not to many takers. But weapons combos and of course the characters speech is importanti dont want to play a game where the main character says "believe it" ever time he wins

I would have gone for both graphics and storyline. But since i wouldn't want to play a game that looks like crap, i picked Graphics.

The battle system is huge to me, without it, the games just...boring. Storyline is just as important though.

I read about the reviews and storyline whenever I find out about a new RPG. It needs to have a good story for me to play it. Then again, I also make sure to see if it has a good battle system, and if everything works out. Another key point for me is the music. I NEED music that goes along with the game. I don't want to play some epic adventure game where some crappy music is playing in the background.. For Example, Michiru Yamane has always been great about what kinds of music he makes for different areas of a game. So yeah, basically, the music also has to match the area, and be good.

i think a rpg with a bad storyline is a bad rpg, unless they make up for it with good content(but they never realy can make up for lack of story)

The battle system of a RPG attracts me.. But the story line is actually one of my basis on choosing a game..

Mainly the storyline. RPGs seem to have a more in-depth story then other genres.

It's a tie between storyline and gameplay for me but I gave storyline my vote. It does sway my opinion of the game slightly more... After all, if it were about cheesy heroes conquering a cheesy villian trying to cheesily take over the world, a brilliantly creative system set up couldn't keep me playing it.

Gameplay is just slightly more important than everything else, close behind would probably be story.

A lot! Gameplay, Voice Actors, Companies, art work, characters and music. That is the most important thing for an RPG to me.

For me, it's mainly the gameplay and battle system, because they're the most interactive parts of a game. Sure, I'd prefer my RPG to have a good storyline to attach to, but it's not a requirement. Also, it's nice if it has good sidestories, because they give you a break from the main objective.
