The soundtracks. If it has good music, then it's always fun to play to the music.

The battle system of a game would usually attract me, but sometimes graphics get me too.

the battle system, sound track, graphics storyline and a little bit of side quests makes any rpg one of a kind cause these are the only things that can keep a real rpg gamer going till the end of the game.sometimes even graphics doesn,t matter at all if the storyline is just stupendus.

Like many people, gameplay trumps most other things, although I still won't play a RPG if it has a difficult to control/very repetitive battle system, has an impossible/snail speed movement system and a storyline that doesn't make sense, is illogical or doesn't exist (although as most of us know, storyline doesn't play as big a part in any besides rpgs), I don't mind games if their graphics are sub-par, I generally don't bother much with sidequests unless I've finished the game first, I can drown out bad music/sound effects and if I can only play it once before there's nothing to do that I haven't done before, then I just play other games until I can't remember the twists, and I forget about the super secret way to beat the final boss.

The plot is always a crucial part of any good RPG. However, the battle system is also important, which is why I've never really been able to get into the Final Fantasy games. :weep:

Generally the Battle System. The more realistic the better.

For me, it's the battle system all the way. It's gotta be unique and interesting, not nessecarily fast (it is an RPG after all) but streamlined and refined is good.

The gameplay has got to be enjoyable in order for me to play it. Some games have GREAT storylines, but if you dont enjoy playing it, whats the point?

Gameplay, I guess. It's really gotta be a good mix of all those factors to be a success, in my opinion.
