I'm going to have to say storyline. It's as important to an RPG as blood is to us. without it, there's no reason for the RPG to exist and it becomes something of another genre. Like an FPS, MMO, or just plain freeform.

Storyline, storyline, storyline. No matter how much I like the characters by themselves, or how pretty the graphics and music are, I just can not get into it if I don't like the storyline. :[

In order, I like mainly how well it controls, then battling system, and, finally, storyline.

It's basically graphics. I'm very picky about them too.

The story line is the best... of all the RPG components... but all of them are needed in an RPG

I say the gameplay of the Rpg attracts me the most out of the everything, if the graphics are good...well obviously a good rpg, and storyline major importance in my book.

Definitely a good storyline. It wouldn't be called a Role Playing Game if you didn't have a decent role to play now would it

an underestimated attraction are definitely the sidequests - zelda always had interesting sidequests which kept me into the game.

i guess storyline is the main thing, even though it would suck if the graphics sucked; i wouldnt play it if the graphics sucked, actually.still, storylines important; no point in playing if theres no storyline i guess.....*rambles off*

The Best thing about these games is when u can actually feel the world coming to life. Becomeing the charactor through customizing it. Enjoying the strength of eventfull battle victories. and Exploring another world all at the same time.

For me, the storyline is most important. Without a great story, I would have a hard time finishing any of the newer RPG's. When you have a job and go to school, you just don't have time to do all the things to complete a game. I was playing FFX2 when my PS2 died but I had stopped playing for a long time. That storyline was pretty good but all that dancing and stuff was a little too much. FFX was even worse. I was riveted by that story (even my wife paid attention when I was playing...) but man it's just not worth trying to build your guys up enough to be able to defeat the extra boss at the end.I am more a fan of the old RPG's...Dragon Warrion series on NES and the Final Fantasies on NES and SNES

Rpgs have to be the greatest genre in all of console gaming. The sheer amount of diversity you can find in a battle system, the long winded stories of yore, graphics that awe, searching for that special hard to find outfit, subquests of subquests RPGS rock for all of these things

Storyline is what attracts me to an RPG but visuals don't hurt :( everything else has to be up-to-date or it's usually crap though... not like cutting-edge graphics but it's gotta be... nope visuals and... dammit, i choose all of them!
