Pff, battle system is by far the most important thing in an RPG game. Anybody can freakin make a Turn based battle system, what makes an RPG truly unique is a brand new ground breaking BS.

It is totally the story, without the deep, enriching story... it wouldn't be an rpg. Heh, and who cares about graphics, that's all people care about anymore. What about fun, or storyline...

Several things attract me to RPG. Storyline, Battle Systems, Character Interaction, Action, as well as side quests and at least 5-10 more things. And each and all of them together is what makes them attractive, especially in the case of the Final Fantasy Series, but also in the Super Mario Brothers, Zelda, Mega Man, and even the Sim City and the Sims Series Sets.

I actually like the characters and thier designs. Well made characters move a story, poorly made characters make the game feel like its droning and droning on. Thats why I like anything in the Shin Megami Tensei series. Its always having a stylish look throughout all the games and the characters are always individual.

It's the overall package that attracts me to an RPG, but I like good gameplay and a good battle system.

Wow, I really wish there was an "All of the above" option. I'm attracted by everything on that list. :)In the end I picked soundtrack and sounds, though. If the music is terrible, I just can't stand to play the game, even if it's fun.

I like an RPG not made in Japan. I don't have anything against it or anything, the did make Mario, Metroid, and my personal favorite of all time, Metal Gear Solid. But the thing is, J-RPGs all the same. If you look at Western RPGs however, like Oblivion, Mass Effect, and KOTOR, they're very different. Seriously, Square-Enix has made great games in the past, but I'll take Bioware over them any day.

I guess it would be how the combat style works cause i really dislike the taking turn hitting each other type, like pokemon...I got real bored of that...

Not the combat. The story is why I enjoy to play/watch RPG.Sorry, forgot to mention above that I love the turn based fighting action. Although I prefer the lightning quick gameplay of FPSs, slow turn based action definitely has its place. Blue Dragon being the prime example here.
