I'm honestly not sure which was my first at this point. I've played so many games that I've hard time even recalling them all unless I see the title in front of my face. Though, if I had to hazard a guess I'd probably say it was Pokemon Red/Blue.
Though, on a slightly less related subject I'd say the game that me made fall in love with the genre was Disgaea Hour of Darkness on the PS2.

Hard to remember exactly...Pokemon Ruby would be the first I beat for sure, but I may have dabbled in one or two before that.

But f you mean a traditional JRPG, probably was one of the FF, DW on the NES or Phantasy Star, god knows which one was the first....

For me, it was the original Final Fantasy for NES, I remember the game came with a bunch of extra stuff (dungeon map, etc). With the cart. Traded that for a couple of TG-16 games.

My first game ever was Pokemon and that's a RPG. (Crystal to be exact). After that...I can't really remember. It might have been an inuyasha DS game of some sort. Then I played so many other games like avalon code, the world ends with you, kingdom hearts and many other games. Most recently I played tales of xillia. MAN RPG has to be one of the best type of games ever.
