What was the funniest thing as a newbie starting a pokemon game

In pokemon crystal, there was this strange tree blocking my way, and I couldn't get past it, so I did not know what to do. After 10 days or so, I finally found another way to another city. Also, in Pokemon Ruby, I used master ball on a regirock... I should have just used a pokeball...

In Pokemon Blue I just couldn't get passed the "sleeping / naping guy" who blocks your path to the forest with all the bugs (forgot the name!) before you return to Professor Oak with his parcel. For a brief moment I thought that as it until I bought a magazine that proved me wrong

could not figure out how to get into the 8th hoenn gym for the longest time, ended up training a lot and with a level 100 swampert, defeated kyogre because I did not realize you could catch it, then deleted the game with the level 100 pokemon on it because it was getting boring. this was all done on my first ever pokemon game (sapphire)
