It's more immersive - the inability to see behind you and the limited viewing angle plus it's usually easier to aim the gun.

It's more realistic and gives the gamer a better feel of shooting someone. :D

Pretty much yeah, first person is when your watching through the "character's eyes" and most of what you can see is maybe your hands/arms,legs/feet and torso (depending on FPS detail) third person is like a camera that is following your character's body slightly behind and above it.

Generally the only advantage is more precise aiming and shooting mechanics, almost all give you a very small field of view, with third person you don't have to worry about that.

You get to feel as if you're the person shooting. It gives the game, generally speaking, a better sense of realism and movement. It's all in your taste though. Some people hate one or the other. In my opinion, they're both great. It just depends on the mood I'm in lol

It's more realistic, harder better more fun easier to aim a gun. third person shooters are not as realistic and not nearly as much fun. :)

I think first person is better, but sometimes if I play to long I get motion sickness. Is that normal???

I prefer 1st person, because with most 3rd person shooters, I find that the character I play almost always hides whatever is directly in front of me. Seriously.I think FPS are better on PC than console, while with consoles, 3rd person shooters are better. This is mostly due to control; I'm more comfy with a 1st-person shooter if it's with a mouse and keyboard, but with 3rd-person shooters, a console controller works fine for me. Case in point: I'm awful when playing KillZone on PS2 or Halo on XBoX, but Kill.Switch is a breeze for me. Conversely, I loved Halo for PC and obviously the PC Half-Life 1. And ESPECIALLY the PC Ghost Recon (the first one) and Rainbow Six games.I guess it's mainly orientation. If I'm playing an FPS, I feel more immersed into the game, and it seems unnatural for me to aim and fire with analog sticks. On the other hand, 3rd person shooters also have little tricks that make it different from FPS, like the blindfire and cover options in Kill.Switch, so moving about with the controller's analog sticks isn't difficult for me.

3rd person games are mostly like devil may cry you are able to do amazingly cool looking more. Fps games you just see through the persons eyes.

FPS games such as Call of duty 2, Doom series, Unreal Tournament are more action based, while 3rd person shooters are more on the adventure path, such as resident evil or TR

Ok, so wait... You can play third person shooters on consoles better than first person? Aiming on consoles sucks donkey, but you kick donkey more when your character is in your line of sight? I bow to you *bows*.Yay for first person and down with third person. Shooters = PC + Realism + Ability to see what you're aiming at...

i prefer first person because it makes you feel like you're really there but i don't mind third person games because they are almost like watching/playing a movie.
