its good when you download movies and put it on your memory stick but it's bad when you buy the umds movie because they cost the same as a dvd movie but you can only watch it on your psp..haha

Thats what I use my PSP for1gb. I perfer the 2gb but, 1gb if you want to go cheap. I got mine on E-bay for aroun' 50$.btw, if i were to put a movie on a mem card, how big wud it be?lookin to buy a new mem card, jus wanna noe wat size i need

That's not the right question.*Is it worth buying umds, which retail at roughly the same price as a dvd, when they are Only exclusive to a handheld movie player?Obviously the quality is going to be at least worth it or decent enough to be content with, but I can't imagine spending ~$20 on a movie i could only play on the psp. Even then- if you're looking for a handheld movie player- spring an extra $100 for a nice day after thanksgiving lap top that'll play dvds (mine was only $350)... or save yourself $150 and get a handheld dvd player.Handheld personal movie player? cool.But is the quality on such a small screen worth buying the PSP?

What I don't get is that Sony ask developers to make games that can be played in short bursts, but then they only release movies on UMD. Why not release TV shows and cartoons that can be watched in short bursts?Stupid.

Well, they do release tv shows. Just anime only. It's a pretty good selection if you ask me though.

It's stupid, 'cause it's like $15 per UMD, and it's not worth getting when a surround sound, better quality DVD version is available. I don't like this feature at all....

Buy an iPod you can rip dvds (or download them from some torrent site) and put about 30 - 40 feature lenght Movies on it and i think they're totally watchable on an iPod okay it'd be better if the screen was bigger but hey if it was bigger it wouldn't fit in ur pocket so easily

the quality is pretty good for a "take away" console... the resolution is low which made the picture good ^^

wat does anyone think of UMD movies? is it worth it?i personally think its not worth it cause u could get a DVD for the same price and watch it on 50 inch plasma TV at home

I don't think it's worth it at all because you could just buy the dvd and rip/convert it to your hard drive 
then you could watch it on a plasma TV and your psp 
then you could watch it on a plasma TV and your psp

They would be worth it if the movies were between the price of 5-15 MAX, but its outrageous to see some movies costing 36.99!!! That's more than the dvd! What the hell? I rather just convert it onto my memory stick from a dvd.

if you have homebrew? No, you can get DAX custom firmware with the same quality.Other wise, yeah some movies are cool. (ten bucks would do)
