rpgs are very popular nowadays, and so are the varieties. so, my question to u ppl is...which kind of rpg would be your favourite?ExplanationStrategy RPG- games that requires alot of patience and thinking in order to do well in them. you would usually move a character from square to square b4 giving the character commands, like Attack, Skill, and so on. they still have some rpg in them, like stat-building, leveling, and so on.Action RPG- games that have an average depth in storyline and it is not related to sports, but battles are in realtime and enemies appear on-screen while u start hacking and slashing them. there is still a little bit of rpg element in them, like a leveling up system, and others.Puzzle RPG- games that requires you to solve puzzles, which can take minutes, or even hours! there is still some rpg in them, like random battles, and so on.Action+Turn-Based RPG- games that have battle screens that consists of enemies that appear in random encounters/on-screen. for example, in battles from star ocean 3, you can hack and slash, but at the same time, you can also pause to select commands. using spells sometimes requires a bit of charging b4 you can execute them on your enemies/allies. in final fantasy(especially the newer versions), they are more turn-based as you wait for a character's turn to be ready. when his/her turn is ready, you select commands to be executed on the enemies/allies. now that i gave some examples, you should prolly understand what i'm trying to say.Pure Turn-Based RPG- again, these games have battles screens that consists of enemies that appear in random encounters/on-screen. this time, you can take a while to plan your move b4 you execute them on the enemies/allies without the worry of whether the enemies side will react b4 ur move.Simulation RPG- can't explain much. basically, random battles with monsters do not really exist in these games, but it has alot of NPCs you need to talk to and err...take Sim City for example, and combine it with rpg, if u exclude the random battles, less rpg elements, with not so much storyline...yeah, that's about there...Sport RPG- games that are played lke sports, like golf, fighting, and so on. but in these games, there are rpg elements in them, like stat-building. take Mario Golf ADVANCE Tour for example. you should try it sometime. you'll know what i mean.MMORPG- Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. the name explains it all.

I'll have to go with Action Turn Based Rpgs on this one. I love the Final Fantasy series and I also really enjoyed Star Ocean and these types of games.

Star Ocean is the single greatest RPG ever made, therefor, action/turnbased must be the best style of play. I don't like pure turn based too much, it gets repetitive, although, it does free up the designer to make a more compelling story line instead of worrying about combat mechanics.
