Well, first off, I don't really consider Underworld a noir film.. Its not particularly disturbing at all. Anyways, even without that, my vote goes to FG.HP's bg is not appealing at all. It looks poorly brushed (I'm assuming you brushed it, maybe you didn't, but ah well), the render blending isn't good at all, and her eye contrasts completely with the orange and black.I don't particularly like FG's sig either. The right side is neat, but a bit too chaotic for my tastes. the bnw render is a good idea, but sorta.. I dunno. Maybe the signature just needs to be sharpened or something. I like the text - its possible the first text of yours I've actually liked.1-0 FG

Agree with Shade on this one. Not much relation between the theme and HellPro's piece, be it a rather dark color scheme ("noire" meaning black in french). The sig totally lost me; the background doesn't look like anything, except for what vaguely seems like fireworks? No apparent relation between it and the render either. I liked Underworld and I like Kate Beckinsale, but she looks like **** in that render, which is overblended too. To be honest, at first glance the sig looked like something zanzoken or Firebat would do (no offense to them), the text's font being badly chosen and the transparency misused in layers. What else. Oh, those little pixel sized "sprinkles"... they don't cut it and the text touches the edge which kills the lower part of the sig.On the other hand, FG's sig arguably fits the theme, from the little knowledge I have on Animatrix. The background makes sense, there is flow and the render is well centered. The main problems are that the integrity of the background is overcontrasted, and that the render is NOT blended. Leaving the render desaturated is an interesting idea, though not my taste, but its edges are too rough to be left visible. Other minor problems are the blunt black line on the right edge, the wrong color of the border (should be black IMO), and the overall feeling of crowdedness (like the top of the render's head feels missing). I dislike the font that was used but the text isn't overdone and blends in (it reads "ani. malrix" though).Thus, the battle was settled by overall aesthetics and usage of the theme. So without further ado, Fallen God my vote. Don't laugh.

Wow. FG you pulled off a nice sig man. Ok now to be serious.Hellpro: What happened, I fail to understand how Underworld fits the Noir theme but anyway, Background seems disconnected from the render. There's no real flow and also the colours used are bland and well ugly. Text is half there half not, doesn't work well with what you did. I would go with a complete background overhaul on this one.Fallen God: Wow, man seriously this has to be your best sig yet. Having the render not blended was a good move and gave the sig more feel to it. The right side is over contrasted compared to the left side but i still looks like it flows. I like contrast of this sig, I dunno I've always been a fan of contrast. Texts works really well with the sig, fits in perfect with subtle touchs. Border is iffy I would have put it as black or something but overall it doesn't distract you from the sig.Vote goes to FG.EDIT: 4-0 FGs favour

wow real votes ;)i was a bit confused about HPs too...i guess underwold is a 'dark' themed film, so it kinda almost fits, but then the colours thros me off. even then, after trying to justify it to fit the theme, the sig is way below par of what your capable off, it looks like a render that youve just smudged around. got the lighting righ, ill give you that but so did FG, so thats not going to save you.detective story is an awesome short, and it perfectly fits the theme also i dont know whether or not this was intentional, but it looks as though youve used parts from 2 diff storys in the animatrix, guess that irrelevant but i thought it worth mentioning. lighting is done well adding to the flow of the sig, and like duce says, the unblended render really sets it off.GJ FG, my vote goes to you, making that a 5-0 win i beleive
