Like White Fang said, it would be great to have an xbox portable, but it would be to small to hold any data, unless there cartridges like the gameboy games, or you could just carry, lets see, 3/4 memory cards around with you :D

They are making Zune, a portable media player to compete with iPod.The rumours I've heard are they are planning on making an expensive model with gaming features.Apple are also rumoured to be entering gaming and have hired C++ game programmers recently but I don't think it means much. What we need to remember is you need support for your handheld and Ms will probably get some but Apple won't IMO. Just small crappy games like on mobile phones.

I remember hearing about a Microsoft project called the "Origami". It was rumored to be a gaming system, then Microsoft denied and said that it was a PDA/PocketPC hybrid. I would have to fish around to find the article and picture that I'm thinking of, but Google it if you are really that interested. And as for portable gaming, Microsoft did say they would attempt to put a product on the market by 2008. @hackerx I'm not sure if I'm correct on this, but I remember Halo originally coming out for the Mac, and Microsoft seeing the potential it had. In a business move, they attempted and were successful in buying out Bungie so that they would have a competitive edge over Apple. Bungie then saw the then-rumored gaming system Microsoft was making (XBox) and decided to run the game on that platform before moving onto a PC port. If Halo was going to come out for the PC anyways, why would Microsoft have the need to buy the company? I know for a fact that it was supposed to be exclusive to the Mac for a period of time. Again, I am certain of about half of what I just said, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a old GamePro magazine that has an early shot of Halo on the Mac, it looked pretty sweet, and it said that it was Mac exclusive.

there are rumours going around about it. dunno if its true tho. microsoft is still taking heavy losses from its gaming division so it seems unlikely to me. at least for a few years

Xbox is not for portable systems. That's for sure to me. Though, I could be wrong.

Agree with N-star. PSP only *slightly* provides some competition but its price is too high anyway, more for working adults or rich kids?

I heard that MS was going to make a microcomputer the size of the PSP or a bit larger... but I think they said it wasn't for games. I don't think they're ready to take out a portable just yet.

You mean the orgami? That died.

I think that MS could make a good handheld system. Or even Apple could make a good handheld system.

I haven't heard about that yet, but I don't think they would release it because its to early with the 360 just out.

the xbox portable would be awesome, it would start out slow, then pass the psp because the psp sucks peanuts, but nintendo would continue to rule the handheld business

Yeah, I don't think I would trust them with that. If that can't even make a console that honestly works, I'd be afraid that thier portables would be like bombs or something. There's no games that X-Box personally has rights to that would be good on a portable. It doesn't have any strong titles that would even be remotely fun.
