I think it's Cloud because that Squall Gun can be sliced and diced by Cloud.

I'd go for Cloud coz of his Omnislash thing... and, he even has a movie for Christ's sakes... HE'S LOVED by all the female Final Fantasy addicts... and he has a more mysterious and heart-throbbing life...lol... he's even in Kingdom Hearts, while on the other hand, Squall is just some fancy boy with a slash on his face, but the way he dresses up is more formal gangster than Cloud's dirty rags...

Squall~ He's basically my favorite male charie in all 
I adore FF8, Cloud is neat and all.. but I dislike him. They're both sad for different reasons, but SquallxRinny is sweeter than CloudxTifa. KH made me dislike Cloud 10x more, and dislike the creators 100x more cause they put dead people on the game .__.

I prefer Cloud over Squall. There was just something about Squall that I didn't like... but I couldn't point it out.Cloud is better, period.

Squall Leonheart is always my choice. 
I love his overall appearance, personality, and his attacks. My favorite is his limit break, Lionheart. What makes it even better is that the items needed to make the Lionheart sword is not that difficult to acquire (compared to Irvine's Exeter!).

I prefer Squall, Final Fantasy 8 was the first 3D RPG I played and I only got my hands on FF7 quite recently. Squall just seems like a hetter character for me.
