I thought Majora's mask was the best legend of zelda game there ever was.

I thought it was another great legend of zelda game, not as good as ocarina of time though.

Why all the hate on Majoras Mask? The story was dark, darker than any other Zelda game, the music was epic, and they improved Ocarinas gameplay mechanics. Not to say that Ocarina was a bad game, I just prefer Majoras Mask.

I agree with Mike, I wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other but I felt Major was a really nice change of pace from having a Zelda game in Hyrule where you have the same themes over again (Ganon, various elemental temples, same overworld basically).

majoras mask may be the best of the zelda series because of the interesting aspect of the 26 masks

I liked both N64 Zelda games, but Majora's mask got irritating when I had to keep beating the same dungeon more than once. Also, the whole time restriction thing got on my nerves. If there's one thing I hate in games, it's time limits.

Side quests are my favorites and this game kinda did it for me haha. This game was really really intricate, and that's something Ocarina of Time lacked. You we're going after masks as a goron while stopping a thief robbery, while trying to get into a club with 4 little boys and some old dude, WHILE trying to stop THE MOON from crashing down on everything you love and hold dear IN THREE DAYS! Gooooood game, is basically what I'm trying to say.

MM was disappointing. Nintendo had a good idea that went sour halfway through production.

Majoras mask kicked butt! All the Legend of Zelda games are awesome. I can't name one fail Legend of Zelda game. The masks were very fun and I'd keep wasting my time rolling around as soon as I got the goron mask.

I wasn't married to Ocarina, seeing how majora's mask was my first Zelda game (gold edition, yay me).I thought it was the best game i ever played on the N64.but then i got around to play the Ocarina one, and i can see way some folks here criticize.plus read a bit up on how Majora's mask was a rather rushed up job, seeing how more could be implemented into the game, but all in all, i had a good time.that's what it's really about right? having a good time playing the and beating it.

Yeah, I think it was originally supposed to be on the 64DD. (Click it if you don't know what it is)Although I already think it's a great game, I wonder how it would've been if it was released on the 64DD.

The only thing annoying it the 72 hour time limit, and you have to restart every time you fail to perform tasks during a 120 minute time period. Other than that, it was a really good game.

I believe MM was one of the two greatest Zelda games, and though I'm often not taken well for saying so, the other is Adventure of Link. The reason being that they both broke new ground in what the Zelda games could be. Adventure of Link added levels and magic, and while the leveling system was scrapped in favor of simpler item grade scales (some weapons upgrade, rather than Link improving), the Magic system stayed in almost every subsequent Zelda -- and all of the console games since AoL, at the very least.MM made interaction more important through the mask system, and I feel some element of that has stayed in the move forward, but mostly it gave us the the actual event-driven Link. Events happen that propel Link forward into the story and further along the adventure, and these events tend to feel more important to Link than they did in most prior games -- even Ocarina falls short, as Ocarina is largely self-contained events that only bring you to one point, then leave it to Navi to tell you the next step. Majora's Mask, on the other hand, really made me feel like each event pushed towards another, or connected with others, and one of the big points in favor of that is the fact that there's no way to do everything without actually resetting the daily cycle multiple times -- a minimum of four times just to do everything required to beat the game at all. This cycle made the movements of the characters feel more meaningful and planned than random and pointless, and actually supported, in my mind, a very deep level of immersion in the game compared to all of the previous games.I believe that this is Miyamoto's philosophy that the internal reality of the game should be consistent, which is to say that the game should make sense, consistently, unto itself, whether or not it's "realistic" in the context of our own world, and I feel Majora's Mask was the first game he tried to have that throughly applied to. This philosophy appeared, as I recall, in interviews about realism in games and, in particular, the choice of the toony, cel-shaded style for Wind Waker, but seeing it in his earlier work, he was building towards the level that Wind Waker had for a long time. All of that said, for all that I love it, MM was a short Zelda game, with only half the dungeons of the original, and less than OoT, even if the dungeons did feel grander and more solidly designed in MM. Some of the events are just so difficult to do without some help, while others still are incredibly easy, and in the end, I felt like the mythology of MM was underdeveloped -- but the same thing happened in TP, so some of the games just fall flatter than others in that regard.

It remains one of my favorites, and although many have asked me I have no intention of supplying it. :haha:In my opinion along with Ocarina of Time was the greatest game for the 64.

I can't say it was my favorite, but it wasn't bad. I just liked the mask idea, to be honest... and Zora Link looked so awesome.

I thought it was a great game! I mean great story line and game play. Was challenging and thought the masks to turn into different people was awesome.

I enjoy it greatly, and as often as I have the time. While most would call me mad for it, I prefer it over Ocarina. It was always more fun to me, and its Water dungeon didnt make me want to throw my tv out the window.
