Why text when you can use AIM at home, and call outside?

I use text messaging. It's a very convenient way to communicate. Although I really don't get how you guys are saying its cheaper than calling. Most networks (in the US at least) charge on a per-text basis unless you buy Unlimited or a plan. That can get expensive.

I do if I'm allowed, and when I do, I use full words, but I may not use good punctuation.

Text messaging is the biggest waste of time in all of humanity. What is even the point of it? Are you that lazy to call someone and talk to them or is it because people are cowards? And if you wanna leave a message just do a voicemail.

Text messaging saves me from talking to friends because I don't have a lot to talk about most of the time, and then they think I'm being disturbed or something. With texting, they won't really recognize my real tone of voice.

I'm a text-addict. I hate calling people, or talking on the phone, and I usually don't have a lot to say, so texting is ideal.

I don't do it that much now, I'll rather call up that person instead. I used to be obsessed with text messaging though.

However if your busy, dont have time for a full-blown conversation, and want to cut to the chase, texting is the only way to go as far as cells come. Also, it creates a nice, safe barrier that IM and talking on cells does not provide because you can drop the breakup bomb and not have to say or hear anything painful within the next 2hrs.

Only when forced, I have about 5 friends that do nothing but text, and it gets really annoying.

i do, not compulsively like some people but i'd rather text than call because i don't like talking on the phone, some people text way too much to the point of annoyance, i have this one friend and when we'd be eating lunch or dinner at the dining hall (i'm in college) she'd be constantly texting, it used to get on all our nerves
