I've had three, one just started clicking and then burping smoke. The second died because my sister decided to feed it maple syrup and then there is the one I've got now.

I used to have one but it broke about 2 years ago. I hadn't bothered to buy one since, it's strange though because my gamecube and xbox still work fine.

My first version (the fat, black one) heavily scratched my LOTR: The Return of the King DVD CD while it played, so I was assuming something was wrong with the stupid PS2. I wasn't sure if it was only that once it would scratch a CD, or if something was wrong with it. But I was sure I wasn't going to risk another one of my CDs being scratched like that, so my mother got it replaced for the thin, black one, and it's working fine.So that's why I'm putting the word "broke" with the quotation marks: it was working properly, but something was wrong with it, and I wasn't sure if it was actually broken, or if something was wrong with it.And even if the PS2 could've been fixed, I still would've bought another PS2, because you never now when the scratching will start up again. It would be a nightmare if one of my games turned out to be the poor CD, so there was absolutely no way I was willing to risk it all.

I think I am going on my 5th one now. 2 breaking were my fault, the other 2 just died out.

I am still on my first one i don't know why everyones ps2 breaks i have had mine since the month it launched and mine still hasent broken yet and i know about 10 other people that bought their ps2s about the same time as i did and all theirs work fine. I think that you people must miss treat it or something cause mine still works perfectly fine and i play it for at least 8 to 15hours a week. I am playing ff12 then i have to play chrono trigger, chrono cross, ff8, dq8 and ff9.
