'Kirin' is the Japanese name for the Chinesen 'Qilin.'It resembled a sort of dragon-headed Ox with antlers, and was often depicted as being covered in flames.

A Kirin is is a mythical hooved Chinese chimerical creature that is said to appear in conjunction with the arrival of a sage. It is a good omen that brings rui (roughly translated as "serenity" or "prosperity"). It is often depicted with what looks like fire all over its body.

Well Ody I not sure which term of Gaia you after but I'll hope you meant this ...Gaia is called so as it comes from Greek, G/Ge meaning Earth and aia meaning mother/grandmother.
