Unfortunately for you Auzzie, Zero is correct. Blade, unfortunately, you are a bit too late there... Critical strikes happen when a blue slash-like form appear when you physically attack. The exclamtion marks however, appear when an enemy you strike is weak against the element. The weapon that unleashes Heartbreak "with a howl" would be the Thanatos Mace, where a demon comes out when you attack. You can find it in the Ankohl Ruins where you have to use sand and burrow into the ground to get to a chest I think. It can kill an enemy with 1 attack.

It is Asura, where a spirit comes out and attacks the enemy with a sword. I remember having to farm a lot of fenrirs (the two headed dogs) for this lol. I let Ivan equip it because it increases Jupiter elemental power.

In actuality, I think you both deserve something, Zero gave more detail than you, Blade. Yet, I must make one point.It IS posible to got to Vale in Golden Sun the Lost Age, but you cannot enter the town. Park you ship right in between the beach and the mountains near Loho was it? Jump off the ship and low and behold, in you are in the original Golden Sun continent. No towns are here thoguh..Only the icon for Vale exists, and Mount Aleph, plus the lighthouses. It would be the Grind Psynergy, which is used by Venus adepts like Felix or Isaac using the grindstone. It is helpful when you are sailing in that you can take quicker routes by getting rid of rocks in the way.

Hmm not exactly sure.Im guessing either Burst (a Mars Psynergy) where you can break an object like the rock on the mast of the damaged ship in Alhafra, or maybe Pound, which pounds in stakes/columns that are sometimes made out of rock. Both are found in GSII.
