I think there is no problem about using controllers. In fact, it is more enjoyable than using a keyboard. In the end, as long as you still enjoy playing wthout any use of controllers, it will go just fine.

I find it way easier to use my keyboard for vba because ive just got used to it while playing vba games and well i havent got the time to go out and buy a controller.

I don't use one because I see no point. There's only like 8 buttons you use when playing it. Plus I don't know where to get a controller...

I do now, but before I had to use my keyboard, until' one day. I remembered that I had a propad controller with six buttons for my pc and I thought, why don't I use that. Because I couldn't, I didn't have a place to hook it into, so I put a soundcard into my computer (which didn't interfear with my built in soundcard) and hooked the controller into it and now it works ^_^. So now I use a controller and it's great!

as some say, its easier to use a joypad than the keyboard, cause its basically the same as having the gba in your hands :)...actually i dont have a controller, i lost it!but im getting pretty good at the keyboard at this time

i use a USB control pad, and i guarantee to you that it´s much easier to play almost all the games.i had to purchase one because of multiplayer and when i´m playing at the keyboard some hours it starts to hurt sometimes

I got a crappy joystick, so it just worsens the condition of playing =((even tho I nvr tried it...)but I agree that having a better joystick would make the game easier to play tho

Yeah, I use a controller, it looks like a playstation controller and I like it.

Same here, I use mine for nearly every emulator. The only one I don't is Project 64. It is a lot more comfortable than trying to use the keyboard. Funny thing, my first controller lasted 3 months, second lasted 6 months and my current has lasted 16 months so far.

Yes, much easier. I can't stand using the keyboard to play visual boy advance, for that matter most computer games.

I prefer the keyboard, the WSAD system just stuck with me over the years and imo its better than any game controller i've used.

I don't but sometimes I wish I had a controller because I sometimes think the controls are awkward.

I set up a X360 controller on my computer - it works great for most games, including all GBA roms.
