i didnt know this tech until yesterday and i look in the game faqs whta are this techs. and i will not need to use them. 2 reasons first, in Passo Fundo (my city, im brasilian) a few people have game cube. second reason, the people that play video game in this region are more interressed in soccer than figth games so i always play this game VS cpu. and because of that im the best player in fight games in Tapejara (my other town) and maybe this one too.

Waveshining is critical for any good FOx player out there. It's what makes him so freaking great

Indeed. It's a great thing, and one of the reasons he's still top tier.

There are several special techniques that I use. (I use Samus and Falco btw) Samus with the double length grab, super wavedash, bomb recov and wavedash. Very useful techs.

I dont often wavedash cause i use quite heavy players, i dodge allot, most times i move with dodge, sometimes when i choose Marth and think that i have to use wavedash for some nice slices then i use, ganon is too heavy and Link isnt like a feather either with his weapons.

I can't do any of those special techiniques yet but I really think I have to learn since I'm a much-hated Pichu-user. I've seen them used at tournaments but I never understood how useful they were.

Shorthop and L-cancel are the most useful moves to learn. Wavedashing isn't the most important, it's easiest to do with Luigi.

I second that. While WD is important, it doesn't mean some people can't be good without them. See some players that use chars with not much sliding, like Peach and Zelda. But Shffl'd is essential for every char, even if almost no lag after the attack.I saw some post about avoiding Shffl'd attacks. Actually, I'd rather Shieldgrab than WDing to avoid =p

Link and Samus have good shield grabs, the rest are good in dashgrabs, Mewtwo rules in dashgrabs, also for Wavedash you need combos that you can fit in with the character you use, if not then its useless, so even though you dash you need to practise attacks within wavedashing to become more efficient with some players.

Special techniques only help certain characters. For example its useless to wavedash with C. Falcon cuz his running is faster.

I say wavedashing is good with light characters such as Fox and Pichu, but it seems useless with bigger characters such as Bowser.

Erm, Samus has too much lag to shieldgrab ._.Unless the opponent's attack is laggy too, it's not that good using it..And training is the key. At start, you won't see much use for it, but if you keep training with other good people, you'll see some difference.

now here's a goodie. use falco or fox and wait till they're off the stage and trying to recover. stand rrriiiiggghhtt on the edge so that your character starts to lose his/her balance, then at the right time, grab them and throw them down. it's an instant KO no matter what their percentage is. mastyer it and you're invincible.

i've never successfully done WD since i still dont kno how it works, but i think jumping off the walls is good to catch ur opponent off guard, altho there arent many walls in many stages, but i still find it useful ^^

Dont know if you guys already know it or will dissagree but its easier to wavedash if you hold the joystick diagonaly down+X and Shield, its easier for the thumbs to adjust in the timing.

I use the wavedash uhh like every once ina while but i never realy need to use it that much, since usualy i got link and i got so many"decoy shots" with him, like i would jump throw a boomerang the wrong way just to scare them then down stab. or take a bomg toss in air grab em and throw them into the bomb. i also never miss with his arrows which is realy helpfull. mario im realy quick with him like when i use meteor smashes. usualy i dont because me and my friends agree not to edgehog but if they get on my nerve by edgehoging all the time when we agree i get mad and do it.

IMO, the only characters that you really NEED to wavedash with are fox and falco so that you can waveshine to keep combos going. Otherwise mindgames all the way! XD
