why even ask this? of course fanboys will pick cloud but i never really liked cecil anyway. least favorite hero in ff series. favorite would probably by squall or Locke

cloud kicks cecils ass no doubt !!! hes awsome by nothing can stop that dude he kicks monsters butts lmao sounds pretty coreny but its the truth i think today im gonna wait for my girlfriend to call me then ill go outside and go on snowboard for a bit id say thats the best thing that i have ever done

Uhm lies -_-" Advent Children wasn't their first movie, there is already a final fantasy movie but it's more Sci-fi then fantasy...anyway, Cloud wins the dark thing -_-" You only play as Dark knight Cecil for 40minutes in the game, you can't call him dark cause he's a paladin -_-Cloud. In Advent Children, my eyes never left the screen AT ALL. It was amazing, amazing because he made it amazing with his huge broadswords.What makes Square Enix even MORE amazing, is that FFVII Advent Children was the first film they EVER made.The other Final Fantasy film was made by square soft, so that doesnt count.

Even though I am going against the flow here, I will have to say I like the Paladin, Cecil Harvey. I haven't played all the way through FFVII, but Cloud doesn't really appeal to me all that much even after watching Advent Children. He seems more likeable than Squall, Zidane, and Tidus though. That's one thing that ticks me off about the series. After Cecil you are left with angsty punks for your main character. (FFVI didn't really have one.)Cecil to me was a true hero. Nevermind the fact that I think Paladins are the bomb and play them whenever and where ever I get the chance. I even attempt to make a character that is as much like a Paladin as possible should I not be given the option. So, he really has that going for him. In fact, in my humble opinion, Cecil is probably the only main character from a Final Fantasy that is a true hero from the start. Forget that he did bad things by order of the King. That was his sense of duty and honor getting in the way of his better judgement. If any of you have seen some of the previews for Final Fantasy IV DS you can see Cecil in CG glory. Man, is that awesome. Of course, Cloud Strife may be able to win in a fight hands down. Cecil would be hard to put down, though. He's got determination and that goes a long way. And, back to the point of him being a Paladin. Paladins don't go down easily. I believe the question was who do you like better not who would win. Besides, I think they would team up to kick some bad guy tail rather than bash each other senseless. By the way, he wasn't really all that dark except for the first portion of the game. I like Cecil the best. I like the classic characters the best. FFIV had some of the best.

Cloud is awesome, but I don't see where people get the "dark" thing from. In VII he seems /rather/ normal in the dark/happy aspect. Though in AC he definitely went a bit more dark.

I like Cloud better. To me, he personally looks so much cooler and he is stronger. I know some people might disagree with me but i personally think Cloud is better than Cecil. No hard feeling to people who like Cecil better.

Cecil is definitely darker than cloud.....for crying out loud look at the job moniker's Cecil; Dark Knight V.s Cloud; Soldier. You tell me which one youre gonna be scared of when your walking down an alley late at night.............both games were good but the award definitely goes to CECIL here, cloud never really had any "evil" moments in final fantasy seven (unless you count being possessed by Sephiroth, which I dont). LO LO Lukana!!!

To people who think that Cecil was cliche... that game was made in the 90's, way before anything else came that could be copying off something else. Plus it was extremly cool, and never repeated, the part about forsaking his dark past and the battle with himself.Oh yeah, advent cloud was super lame. Seriously.Go cecil, he was straight owning.
