i am completely agree...there are some old games with moderate graphic still considered to be worth playing, like FF7, Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire 3 and 4, etc...

Well, if the game had really horrid graffix and okay gameplay, I probably wouldn't play. I might play if it had great gameplay. Likewise if it had good graffix but bad gameplay I won't play.

graphics are an important part of the game, no doubt. but story is whats most important to me. Take Final Fantasy 7 for instance. the graphics aint that good, by todays standard, but the story is awesome.

Yeah everything is too overblown about graphics. I've played NES games with better stories and progression than PS2 games.

Good Story = Good GameGood Graphics = Good Sales^Though those usually receive lots of crappy rating/feedbacks by people that are good at criticizing. Many people that rate games are way too lenient and becomes bias easily

Good graphics is just the smallest part of what makes a game good.Basically the gameplay and storyline are the biggest part. Graphics and Sound are just something extra, although I think it's important these days, good graphics make everything mutch clearer, and in some games it is necessary

I think games should have both good graphics and also be a good game, or else why would we want by a lame game just for it's graphics?

I've played games with bad graphics and that I loved (Capcom vs. SNK II) and I've played games with good graphics that I hated (Enter the Matrix). So graphics don't directly correlate to fun.I have found, though, that if a company puts care into its game, it will show in the graphics. Most of the really good games that I've played aren't technically advanced, but they still look really good. Disgaea, for example, is essentially sprite-based with simple 3d backgrounds, but the designs are well done and everything looks very smooth. The game itself is, in my opinion, very well done - very traditional, but well thought out and executed. Most of the really bad games out there, on the other hand, have very slipshod graphics; they may have high poly counts, but they're ultimately quite ugly. P.N. 08 (or whatever the title was) comes to mind - high poly count, but everything looked very dull - similarly, the gameplay was very dull.In short, I don't judge a game on its graphics, but graphics can sometimes give an accurate first impression.

Good graphics dont make a good game, but they sure helphonestly though, some of my fav games look like crap. My friends are like "what the H E double hockey sticks are you playing!?" cause it looks so bad. but graphics arent important to me, obvously. Persona 1 for Ps1 looks terrible, but its one of my fav ps1 games. Just cause its fun and different.

one good example of brilliant graphics and brilliant game is elder scrolls oblivion. but i agree; in many cases, good graphics are in crappy games, and vice-versa. its pretty annoying

Gameplay = good game for me but i find that if the game doesnt have good graphics then it gets boring pretty quickly. I also hate repetative music which turns me off of a game for life.

screw graphics. the characters could be stick figures, background drawn by a 3 year old, and be animated by your local drunk. if that game has a good story line, i'll play that game for a long time

Fully agreed. The story and gameplay matter.I don't care about graphics.

well, a few people have mentioned 2-d games as "bad graphics"truth of the matter is, it's an entirely different medium than polygonal3-d graphics.sooo, 2-d graphics can be absolutely spectacular in their own way just because we're dealing with something very different than cgs and all that.

Good graphics are fluff and nothing more. Only in games like Ico and such can you get away with it.

good graphic do not make a good game. its all story and gameplay, good graphics is just something that adds to that.

Hardly. The story is what makes a game.
