I think so. GRAPHICS DO NOT MAKE THE GAME!!Story is a must for some,Game play itself is a mustGraphics aren't so important..

I think some companies should look to remake old games with improved graphics, and also include some new features to update them whilst keeping the same things that everyone loved about the original. Chrono Trigger with updated graphics for XBOX360,PS3 or Wii would just be incredible if they got it all right, and it would sell so much whilst everyone would be happy with the end product (hopefully)

good graphics doesn't necesarly mean a great game (but it helps lol)look at game titles like FF Tactics, the graphics are not what you expect from a FF game after seeing FF7 or FF8 but see how many people enjoyed itgame play is the 1st thing game companies should focus on but putting as much attention into the graphics is also a way to show their skills in the industrya great game also deserves great graphics (given the limits u cn break)but great graphics dnt instantly make a great gamebut like i said earlier, it helps

I think that the gaming companies being focused on graphics is not a bad thing, but they should also focus on storyline, gameplay, characters, etc. The number one concern for me is where this is going to lead our next generation of gamers. They will play games only because the graphics are great, and may never to know a truly great game. Another problem is that the games are set due-dates and sadly the game and everyone who plays it suffers. They give dates on when it will be on shelves, and if it's not completely finished by then they will have to put a quick end to the game and leave out alot of extra features which will improve the overall gameplay. "A delayed game is eventually good; a bad game is bad forever" I, myself, enjoy playing "modernized" games from time to time, but I prefer to play "old-school" games. They seem to have much better gameplay, and it's also what I grew up on. I don't mind bad graphics, in fact, I couldn't care less what the graphics look like. So overall, good graphics does not mean a good game at all.-MiniMeMilo

I agree, game graphics are NOT what games should be judged apon! Games could have MILLIONS of lines of code, and in myidea, that's a good game!

I know of a few games with the most awesome graphics, but the gameplay just really sucks. And sometimes it's the other way around, the graphics suck, but the gameplay is awesome.

i feel its kinda sad. nowadays, game producer only concer themselves with graphic in gaming. in the nintendo/sega days, the graphic was limited, but the gameplay and story was excellent. nowadays, they can practically draw and make polygon to be exacly alive, but the story/gameplay is soo bad that i always lost intrest halfway through the game.... even my younger bro already has a waning intrest in current games (ps2/xbox/ect) and for me, i turn to translation, or replay old classic games. what about you?

I think that if helps. Its gotta have the best of both worlds. A good story and good graphics.

not necessarily, but they certainly help a lot. FFX wouldn't be the same if it were done on the ps1 with worse graphics. it kind of brings the game to life.

I agree with manoftheday good graphics don't make a good game. In fact I say the super nintendo is one of the best systems ever and its games are all not half bad. games like donkey kong and final fantasy on the snes are awesome.

Graphics DO NOT make the game. Sure it's a nice side helping, but gameplay, storyline, and character make the game. Tale a look at Tales of Symphonia for example. It's graphics are nothing to stare at. Yet, It's to this day, one of my favorite games of all time. Why? It's characters were simply amazing. The general storyline was like nothing I'd ever seen before. And the gameplay was darn near perfect.

Some people in this world really under stand gaming. It is true that games with of the hook graphics can really be boring but then they just made a game with good grphics to a complete waste

That can be true in some of the newer games (Gears of War is even better because of its graphics), but nintendo games are some of the most fun and they never have good graphics. Also, every now and again (mostly when bored), I raid all my games and love to play my old games, especially DIABLO II!!

Good graphics indeedly dont have to mean a good game. It is the gameplay which makes a game good, graphics is an extra, but important too, dont forget that

I have been around a long time, since before the Atari 2600. Let me say for me, gameplay is the most important part of the game. The best graphics cannot and will never cover up for a lack in gameplay. It seems like too many developers, both hardware and software, concentrate on graphics power. I just look at how the Wii is selling compared to the other new consoles. The Wii is outselling both and seems to have less technical problems. Gameplay is also the reason why I generally choose to play retro games many times over some of the newest titles, the older games are just more fun to play.
