Many times, graphics represent the effort put into a game. When I play games, I judge based on when it was released, etc. But graphics still takes about the last slot in terms of personal importance. Price, then Story/Gameplay.

ya, u are definitely right cause i remember playing Southpark for n64 and it looked fun BUT the graphics were so ridiculously crappy that i couldnt tell the difference between the water, the rocks, or even the frickin' people!!!! so ya graphics are very important in stuff like that....... so after all that, i'd say it's pretty even  one requires both graphics and gameplay to get any enjoyment what-so-ever out of a game.

and also. you can't forget length. if a game has all the element of a great rpg, but is short, you feel very jipped.

oh ya....... i cant remember how many hours i've had to sit thru of my friend losing it over a ridiculously short game (on final factor on games is how easy it is to cheat in the game, such as in D&D where u can cheat by accident and be godlike. making the game boring as hell...)p.s. i love the angry beavers quote Latios. lol  great show

Graphics, IMO, are a very large part of the game.. Just that gameplay/plot is larger.. I don't mind going back to SNES games.. but farther than that..NES games might be classic and all.. but.. the graphics.. can't stand them..Sort of like Wind Waker.. it might've had a good plot.. but I couldn't stand the graphics..

I usually like cel-shaded games but Zelda was never made to be like that. Did you see the concept graphics b4? Why Celda? Why did you have to damage a great series' reputation.Nnnnnooooooooooooooo!

You're probably right about how creators seem to think that good graphics make it a good game. But I do know some really crummy games with REALLLY bad graphics.

graphics have very little to do with it, sometimes I wish they would at least take a tenth of the effort they put into making look good and actually put some effort into story line and character development. In my opinion, the best games I've ever played were FF6(3), Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana, and they were all simple graphics.

Not all Games with good graphics is a good game ... Like DMC 2 it has good graphics but the story is too shallow .. unlike the first one which is DMC one its has a better story with good graphics ...

hmm...graphics have a really really big part in today's games now. Once you play doom 3, or any of the good gfx games, and you go back to avp2, its a big difference. However, game play is still the most important. It's basically developers trying to beat each other at best graphics technology, to see who gets the most licenses for their engine=big bucks. Those games with good graphics are advertisements for their engines as well, cuz that's were the money is for game developers.

Good graphics dont really mean good game. i think about 50% of a game is the actual game play. yes, graphics hold about 30-40% but there are a few games that i play that alot of people might think have crappy graphics but are addicting with the gameplay :D

I would have to say that a good graphic makes the game better, but it doesn't make the game. I would go with the old school anyday.

Um... What!?!Prince of Persia had some of the best gameplay and puzzles I've played in ages. What the hell is wrong with you? :wtf: But ya... graphics don't matter half as much as quality and gameplay... even though it's nice to get impressed by kick donkey graphics now and again.

Graphics are a minimal part of games- That's why snes and nes are still popular. A game can have a pretty package but still suck. It's the gameplay that matters.

Graphics are so very little of what makes a good game.. Xenogears is the greatest game of all time yet it has graphics of nowheren ear the calibur of many games... same goes for shining force or many of the other great games of old

I rely on Nintendo's kick-butt proprietary signature game series most of time. I'm tired of alot of third party coming out with games that they spent mediocre time on and just made it so it appealed to the mass so it would get sales.

Graphics don't need anymore improvement. It would be awesome if they improved them further, but Nintendo have chosen to work on the playability of the console. Eventually others will follow. It used to be: What makes a good game? Story! Then it was: What makes a good game? Graphics! Now its: What makes a good game? Playability! Its all about how you play the games now, not the graphics. I still love SNES sprites & GBA sprites (which are basically the same) & those a 2D. They're just very artistic & beautiful to look at. It hurts to see 2D graphics die.I find 2D games a lil too boring these days though...
