It's time for developers to return to making games out of passion i.e. blizzard and squaresoft

True, D2 is awesome, to me. and grfx, if u kno or not, are horrible :) (well horrible is a lil xtreme, but the grfx arent great :))

Graphics will never make a game, but it will help (a lot).

I agree with Tommy89, it would help but it doesn't make a great game great.

If its a good game, graphics mean next to nothing (why do you think people keep coming back to the original mario?) if its a bad game, graphics STILL mean nothing.

in responce to the topic, I'll just say this:I still play text-only games.NO graphics at all, still fun though.I can sit down and play a games with awesome graphics for a little while, but I'll get bored with it really fast.

Graphics do not make the game, they can help, add, or subtract, but never make the game.Only the gameplay and storyline can make or break a product...

very true... finally i find a thread that doesn't irritate me that much (too many ppl praising ff10 and X-2)<<good graphics, bad storyline... infact, alll the storylines are about saving the Earth or some other planet...

If graphics dictated how fun a game was, I wouldn't still play the old Ultima I and II games on atari emu's. Damn those were fun.

If graphics were important, HERO and River Raid would be some of the worst games ever.Ditto.

Graphics are made to help bring a good game to life. Like EVERYONE else has said, story and gameplay are most important. I still like graphics, though. They can definitely enhance a game.

There were a multitude of excellent games back in the days when pixels were as big as GBAs, and VGA graphics seemed like a wonderful dream. Good graphics are a nice bonus, but nobody in their right mind would judge an otherwise excellent game over aesthetic issues.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

"You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on..."

Well, I don't like 8-bit, but as long as a game is atleast 16-bit I'm fine. Many good SNES RPGs was 16-bit.

Not really I have seen games with really good story lines but with bad graphics and visa versa. a good example would be some old snes games like Gundam Wing endless duel compare to today standards it don't have as a great graphic as gundam wing assualt Gundam Seed edition, but personally I would play it anyway because I feel it a better game

"A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him. What awaits him down the path, he will then have to choose. The boy doesn't always know. At some point, the boy then becomes an adult, and learns what he was able to become. Joy and sadness forever will accompany this. He is confronted with a choice. When this happens, does he bid his past farewell in his heart? Once a boy becomes an adult, he can no longer go back to being a boy. The boy is now a man. Only one thing can be said. A boy has the right to dream. For those endless possibilities are stretched out before him. We must remember. All men were once boys."

good graphics = good agme hmmm i dont think so theres plenty of games from the past with bad graphics but still good and entertaining, like pacman thats entertaining, or other games. its not about the graphics (maybe abit) but the enjoyment of the game and how good the story is and do you enjoy it

Good graphics dont make good games, I mean King Kong on xbox has good graphics but its supposedly rubbish. And think of Pac Man, rubbish graphics yet everyone loves it

The thing that most people are overlooking when they bring up that older games sold well is that for the most part the graphics that the games had were cutting-edge for their time.As for my piece, I still do play the older games (though I don't play games in general as much as I used to).One more thing: How about older gameplay styles on beautiful-looking games games (like in Dragon Quest 8)? What are your opinions on that?

Graphics dont bother me as much as gameplay, I STILL play FF7 and i think FF8 BLOWS although its graphics are still considerably better.Good graphic games with empty story lines are kinda like the movie FF7:AC because I was just expecting ALOT more from that and it really disapointed me from what I've seen.
