For the $600 I could buy a Wii (if I could ever find one...) And a couple of games for the Wii, and quite a few of the games for the virtual console. And for the $600, you don't even get any games!

The blue ray is the reason why PS3 is so expensive, and it's only good to see videos on HD. Microsoft has managed to offer HD-games on simple DVDs, so why is Sony unable to do so? How many people do have a HD-TV? How many of them want to see HD-video? How many want to see video at all?Sony should have published the blue ray a bit later, just like Microsoft did with the HD-DVD...ps3 is well worth the money it has everythimg and more blue ray online games and more

PS3 is definately worth it. By 2008 it will be bigger than the Wii because it will have big name games out and it will have lowered it's price by then, I don't see why people hate the PS3 so much!

I don't think it is... yet. But then again, I never buy a console at its release. I wait for at least version 2. Then you've got most of the release bugs worked out of it and a larger game selection.

I think it was totally worth buying, it alone being one of the cheapest (but more reliable) blu-ray players. The games will come soon, we can't doubt PS3 when it's only been out a fwe months. PS2 had a horrible start also but look at it now, one of the best selling consoles to date.

i WILL buy it WHEN i get the money.it is worth it. with the Xbox you have to get a seprate HD DVD player thing, but with PS3 you get the Blu-ray player built in.the only good think about the xbox is xbox live, you can watch tv shows and movies, but that is only avalible in the US (we dont get it here in the UK).AsrarQ

Yes, it is complety worth it.With games coming out this year like MGS4 and FF13 not to mention PSHome, i think it will have the best game line up this year.

Depends. Right now, I'm really not looking into buying ANY of the new consoles unless they come out with stuff that I'm REALLY looking for; in terms of the PS3, the prices that're up just aren't worth it for being interested in NONE of the new games.

i would buy it and heres my comparisonI would not buy the wii, because there aren't a lot of good games 4 it, the graphix arent outstandingi would not buy the 360, cuz its almost like the ps3 the 360 is way too overrated and name good games that any PS game doesnt have and another thing when u do that u can't count halo....u c theres nothing

Ive played all 3 next gen systems and i think the wii is the best value. the ps3 isnt all that great right now but in a year or two when better games come out it will be far superior.

From my perspective, it isn't currently worth it considering the lack of exceptional launch titles (with the exception of Resistance), but when the good games come in and the price goes down it will be a good buy, especially if BluRay becomes big.However, if you haven't got a HDTV (which the majority of people, myself included, don't), it's still questionable whether you'd want to get one, because realistically you need one to exploit the PS3 to its full capabilities.

It depends on what you're thinking. In some ways it's worth it, and in some ways it isn't. From what I've noticed, it's a really good deal if you just want a Blu-ray player. It's a bit cheaper than the other Blu-ray players out there, and yet it can also play games, which is kind of a bit of an extra.

I wouldn't buy it now. I'd buy it in about 3 months to even a years time. First cause of the price, and second because of the games out.

I think I heard somewhere that they're going to lower the price to around 300 but it won't be able to play PS1 and PS2 games

The undisputed question: "Which console to get?" Depends on the eye of the gamer. I hope that everyone has done their research one which console to get.. For a PERSONAL opinion, yes PS3 is worth it. I have been loyal to it since playstation 1 and have bought lots of its games and its series games (twisted metal, tomb raid, final fantasy). It suits my needs of the kinds of games I want. Plus, I can just play my old games on it. There are a lot of cons to getting the PS3 such as less popular in US, not many good launching title games, some bugs the consoles, etc. Even so, It has not stop me, a sony lover to get a ps3. One GREAT benift from it was the fact I was able to Download my Tekken DR game for only 20 bucks instead of getting the psp or playing at an arcade place. PS3 still has that rarity value. Everyone in my dorm has a 360 but I am still the only one with the ps3 (probably becuase nobody wants it). Its has a complelely different outer case with Spiderman text "PLAYSTATION 3" which makes it appealing. I know I won't join my buddies on xbox live; however the ps3 is i think aimed for the single player users. If I wanted to, I would go next door and play gears of war or Wii sports in a jiffe. STill, i like sitting quietly on my small chair playing a long adventure game like final fantasy XII.

I suppose it is worth it but i have a Wii and i don't want to get a PS3 and like never play on the Wii againalso there arn't many games outplus it is really expensive atm.
