^They didn't exactly "leave" it, to be fair.But if you want to be exact, Deng was far more capitalistic than Mao. He was not devoted to the "revolution" or "the people"; he simply wanted to make China as powerful as possible. He cut the economic ideal of communism down, allowed farms and a slowly increasing number of factories to be more independent, and, with new relations and trade with the United States, gradually improved China throughout. Some could say that the Rise of Modern China contributed to the Fall of Japan (well, not fall, but you get the idea).

The French tried to recapture its Indochina colony, but a new communist movement led by Ho Chi Minh fought back. Vietnam was eventually partitioned into North (Communist) and South (Republican), and the French eventually left. The increasing tension between the two Vietnams led to the Vietnam War where the USA intervened to "prevent the spread of communism". Hope i'm right... :laugh:
