family guy to me just seems like it trys to be an edgier simpsons... also most of the jokes in family guy have NO relavence to the real storyline

The Simpsons forever.Family Guy is hilarious, but the Simpsons always had so much more heart.Family Guy is just a little bit too absurd sometimes.I get kind of tired of never ever being able to take it seriously.

The simpsons had alot of the kinds of jokes that family guy does. For example, the episode where homer thinks he sees an alien? the people from star trek and X files were all there. They also had a donkey kong joke, alluding to his first debu where all he did was throw barrels at Mario. To get most of the jokes in the simpsons you need to be quick witted. In family guy the jokes are cut off into their own scenarios. This allows them to do things simpsons cannot, however, it is mainly a choice of vulgarity when picking. Do you like the inappropriate humor of family guy, or the family fun humor of simpsons?
