This isn't from any Final Fantasy but it's Lavos from Crono Trigger. It took like an hour =/ it was so repetitive.

I think it could be either Penance from FFX or Ruby Weapon from FF7

I'd say the ruby and emerald dragon. Surprisingly, the final bosses in any of the FF games weren't that bad.

can someone explain me, why the ruby weapon in ff7 was hard ?!!?! .. all guys thinking Ruby was hard, what do you think about the emerald then ? .. i don't think the Ruby weapon was harder than the Emerald. ( in fact . i think ... ruby was really easy compared to emerald W. ) _Tuffy

I have played only three final fantasy games which were final fantasy VII, final fantasy VIII and final fantasy IX.The hardest I found was Sephiroth from final fantasy VII.I played it in Play Station and could not defeat him.I played the PC version and still could not defeat him.I had to use cheats to do so.I am such a cheater :-P

Sephiroth is actually quite easy...The hard ones are Emerald and Ruby Weapon from FF7 and Omega Weapon from FF8 (FFX version is really easy 
)

you must level your character up very much to even hope beating the boss. I think it was mentioned earlier how they made the boss much easier in the english version. They just don't make games challenging anymore. Only concentrating on how shiny they can make a game these days and making it so anyone can beat the enemies with no problem rather than giving a challenge so I can be interested in games anymore. I buy a game hoping, and am left with nothing. The only challenging thing I've played lately (and granted this is the hardest thing since challenging snes games to me) is crazy mode in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.

i didn't especially find them hard. And I think crazy mode seemed harder because I hadn't played the game in a long while and decided to go right into crazy mode. Maybe the fact that I had my characters in ffVII so maxed out that the game actually froze when I put the best of everything on.

i'm actually playing ff4-hard because i want´to see if the boss is really harder than emerald weapon in ff7 .. when i finish the game i will report you my opinion. ( i have to say, the whole game is a bit hard because you ever have to max your characters .. ) _Tuffy

Since i stopped playing the FF genre at FF7 (i still play FF on the GBA, i mean that I dont play FF8-11), I would say the toughest is the final form of sephiroth, I cheated with the item dupe trick to use megalixirs every turn -_-.. Oh and the Ruby Weapon as well.

Probably the emerald weapon, when i first fought it i lasted 2 turns then i trained for sooooo long the the timer on my save maxed out and didn't go any high and i beat it no sweat.

the hardest boss on the first attempt, would hafta be the Emerald weapon from FF7, but like all bosses in Final Fantasy, after getting whooped the first time, It doesnt happen again.

i think emerald and penance were the hardest 4 me ruby was easy cause you can use hades and for omega i used the invincibility item, hero.
