I have both, but personally, i like SM64DS better, cuz theres more of a game to play, like alot of stars and stuff. And because I have it on my N64!

I'd buy first the New Super Mario. Nice graphics and storyline (ok, it's always the same history - Peach kidnapped, mario going after her, but it's fun anyways).Buy the Kart DS if you want to play online. It gets much funnier that way

New Super Mario Bros defenatly it has coll power ups cool enamies cool characters and cool bossesWell Mario 64 Isent That Bad but new super mario bros is cool have you ever played mario forever its not for console but its cool ive playde mario 64 but i havent playe mario 64 ds i bet that its cool

You are comparing two games that are so different.of course it's both mario's games ... but ... one is a classical platform style (new smb) revamped with new "nickelodeon" colors (which i like so much)and the other one is a 3D games ported to the DS.. not comparable.Mike

New Super Mario Bros is super.Was wonderin which was better, personally, i think Super Mario 64 DS is better, loved replaying the original since my 64 broke

In my opinion I don't think it makes sense to compare a 2-D game to a 3-D game. I pick Super Mario 64 DS because you can play as Yoshi, Lugi and Wario not just Mario.

That's a though one... I personally enjoyed both, but I found New Super Mario Bros. to be a lot smoother in comparison to SM64's slow framerate. NSMB's graphics are also a lot cleaner because SM64's 3D environment means the textures get blown up and choppy a lot. But they've both got solid gameplay.
