My cousin did give me his Rockman X4 CD a few years back. Even though it's japanese, I still had fun. I also did Shin Bokura no Taiyou: Gyakushuu no Sabata and Mother 3. Mother 3 still had me lost though. Shin Bokura was easy to play (for me) since I played Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django before, plus, a bit of study in their language helped.

I sometimes grab a game as soon as it comes out in Japan.. Rarely though. ... Except I don't think this thread really applies to me since I'm Japanese and I also fully understand Japanese. :D

I play Ouendan in Japanese because I don't want to wait for the American version (and besides, in the US version the track list is unappealing- not because it doesn't have J-Pop, though)

Well, sometimes the games are only available in japanese, and theres nothing much you can do it about it. Generally I'll just play the game (and usually I know enough about it to know what they are doing) and if I ever need help with some info on the dialogue, thats where gamefaqs comes in

Only if the game in question is not available in english yet. But only if it isnt a RPG game. I will never play a RPG with words I cant understand, simply because that would take away from the game.

I agree with phoenix01983, if the game in japanese is a RPG....but then there are FAQs. (and translations)

I do it because I love japanese voice actors. I know that sounds stupid but I'm obsessed with that.

Don't mind if I do. I'm playing Super Robot Taisen: Generation J, and don't find any problem with it. I just don't get what they are saying during cinematics.
