I avoid trying Japanese games if I can find the game translated either into English or Chinese. But if I can't, I can still try to figure out the game myself, even though I can't really read Japanese. ^^;

I have Daigasso Band Brothers in Japanese. I'm not sure if I'm actually playing the game or just practising.

The only games I play in Japanese are the ones that aren't heavy in the story and dialogue department (like fighting games), anime games (because I usually can't stand the English voices they use when they become localized), and any games that will never be brought over here because of licensing issues (like the Super Robot Wars games that use mechs from different anime/game series). I really wish that games that originally had Japanese voice acting, such as Square-Enix RPGs were dual audio, so I could play with the voices they were meant to have in the first place. It's just a personal choice of course, because I prefer watching/playing things in their original language no matter the country they're from.

Yeah a couple of times. The first time was when I was small and Pokemon Silver and Gold just came out, so I ended up buying it with a friend. I got silver while he got gold and we helped each other out. But when waiting for Rockman Exe 6 I just couldn't wait, so I played a bit in Japanese.

I'd never go for a Jap rpg, so maybe a platformer or a beat-em-up. You don't gotta speak Japanese to play a game of that nature.

I've never really had a desire to play just because I don't speak or understand the language, or else I might be interested.

The games I like the best are the ones that you can have Japanese dialogue with English subtitles.

I dont normally play any games in japanese unless its something that most likely wont come out in english, but I usually find someone who can translate for me if its an RPG. But for fighting games (mostly Naruto) its just common sense: the first menu is "Press Start", then obviously single-player, multiplayer, etc.

me too! I'd like to play most of the Japanese games!!(even though I might not understand most of the words..and most of them won't get to be translated)hahaa...It's just too hard to resist..the graphics of thosegames are so neat..and the storylines are pretty interesting,the characters design are quite amazing also~I love it when a great Japanese game comes out~

my younger brother did this before the naruto games came out in N. America on PS2 monthes ago. It was really creepy because he totally understood everything even though he never stepped into a Japanese classroom before.

I play Japanese games if they're not text-heavy, or the text is very irrelevant. My current game of choice, Panel de Pon, is Japanese... but the significant information is in English, so that's okay.
